When mine broke I found you had to buy the whole bar so I simply drilled ans screwed mine back together. Did both sides while I was at it.

When mine did this I just superglued the thing back together. It's been holding great for a couple of years now.

Brackets

I ended up casting my own out of Aluminum and then painting them.
Drilled them out and bolted them together with a few #10 bolts with nylock nuts.
I don't think they will break ever again.

Would you take orders for these?

Thanks Ivor. This is a great tip, and I've just done the exact same to my own Z4 and it works a treat. Very clean result!

But now there's a small net in the back. Is that something new, or was just missing from my car when I bought it (used)?
I am wondering about this too, my 2009 model does not have the net yet the other day I saw a 2012 model which has this net attached to the divider. I tried to see if I can find it on realoem but when I put my VIN it does not show any nets, so I assume this only came on later cars? does anyone know?

AFAIK the net was added as of spring 2012.

In the German ZRoadster forum we have developed a CAD design for 3D printing of these hinges.
