seat side bolsters

I find that my side bolsters no longer retain air after a few minutes...do you guys have this prb or do I have a leak somewhere? If you had and got it fixed, how much are we looking at? Thx.

Is this an option with the sport seats. I do not have the the sport seats and no bolster air fill option. New to me.

Air? The bolsters feel like they're filled with some material, like the seats themselves. What makes you think they're air-filled?

I'm guessing because it's inflatable/deflatable and it feels similar to my old massage chair...I mean, what else can it be if not air?

Mine go down over time. Takes days though and that's fine because I only need them to hug me on some more rapid journeys.

While I can't confirm, I too believe that on the E89 the side-bolsters are air-filled for adjustment. On my Mercedes, the side bolsters are electronically controlled and the whole thing moves, but in the Z's case, it does appear to just inflate/deflate.

Air... So weird. Haven't had to re-adjust mine.

I remember driving an M6 a while back and the seat bolsters electronically squeezed me in rather... aggressively.

Oh, you're right. I adjusted mine so long ago, I forgot you could do that. My bad.

They are air, with everything off you can hear them being pumped up and can hear the air being released (Motor sound when adding and no motor when being released). The lumbar is also air filled, or so it sounds like it is to me.

Such a poor design, these air-filled bladders inevitably fail/leak. Didn't know that there is a different design, e.g. Merc, that I assume actually moves the parts w/o requiring air? That's much better.

It looks like this, the side bolsters in/deflate to squeeze one's torso for lateral support.

mine is leaked out within 15 mins. I guess I never needed it for more than 15mins of spirited driving.

Just gain a little weight so you squeeze them instead

Sounds like a defect if air leaks out. I had the bolster set to the same position for 3yr in my e90 and 1yr in my e89 with no change

Geez first the A/C problem, now the bolsters, maybe time for that Merc tradein.

I remember driving an M5 where the side bolsters would automatically, alternately, move in and out as I was cornering left then right on a track. That was kinda weird.

A/C prb still not fixed if I start the car the 'reg' way, but my T-Fix has been the solution thus far.

Naw, I don't care too much for the 'old rich man non-sporty' car brand. BMW's image is always sportier compared to them.

Have that on my Merc... Was a $800 if I remember correctly. Very cool in theory, but in practice is just awkward since there is a slight delay between turn-in and bolster adjustment. I keep it off at all times... Anyway, off-topic
