Do you prefer lighter or darker wheels?

There have been some very strong feelings one way or another for both camps and ofc there's no right answer and it's just according to personal tastes. Which do you prefer, generally-speaking, and can you explain why? Let's keep things civil.

I've never given it much thought when I bought my car (crazily didn't even really care about the wheel style or color) but now I've finally started paying more attention to other details, I've really taken to darker wheels. Not black because that would imo take away from the overall look, but something in a darker shade - vs if it was silver, it would seem too bright and standing out to me.

Poll added, only either/or, so choose wisely.

You should add an age to this.......LOL. I feel like older guys mostly like lighter and the younger like the darker.

You need to add a poll option.

It depends on the color.

Contrast is the goal.

I didn't wanna complicate things or have stereotypes haha...even though your generalization may be on pt. FWIW, I'm probably an older dude here (40s) and I chose darker. Ppl can state their age if they want when replying.

For the most part I do not like dark wheels, but combo's can change that.

Totally depends on the color of the vehicle and the rest of the trim.
I, too, like contrast. Some (otherwise beautiful) murdered out vehicles look terrible--all the design lines that 'make' the car are lost, and cheapens the look...imo.

Regrets having it difficult. Wanted ppl to make the hard choice if had to choose either/or. 'Depends' would kinda be an easy out.

I dunno about contrast. Frozen black with black (matte) wheels looks pretty sharp.

White cars do look good with black or dark gray rims.

And here I was going to say nothing is worse than a black car with black wheels. Well, except for matte paint. But you know what they say about opinions.

Personally I don't like black wheels except on specific colors of cars. Like black wheels look pretty good on gray or white cars. For almost all other colors I think dark gray, silver, or gold/bronze wheels almost always look better.

Depends completely on the make/model and even trim level.

I prefer gloss black on matte, and it's specifically because of the contrast. This car is stealth black with gloss carbon bits, and semi-gloss wheels, but you get the idea.

Sunset Orange Metallic M2C with "black" 788s. I thought about bright silver on dark orange. Didn't work for me.
