If Nissan can return to the 240Z see and spirit, I'm in remembered when they came out with the 350z. Was one of the early fans in line To but one. Then test drove it and couldn't believe the chintzy interior and so so driving dynamics. The successor 370z was much better. Recent models are good deals compared to the Toybaru if you can get over the dated interior.

I do hope for some sort JDM sportscar revival. But also the economy casts a dark cloud.

You're right, the engine is that old, I thought the passage in question was about the engine and the chassis being that old, not just the engine. That's my bad.

However, calling the 370Z a 50 grand car kind of illustrates my point about the car being treated a bit unfairly by enthusiasts. Everyone knows a Mustang GT costs about $35K. But if you throw enough options at it, you can actually get the price of a GT above $60K, and yet nobody is sitting here telling people the Mustang GT costs $60K. The 370Z starts at $30K. It essentially has the same engine and transmission as the Nismo. Why do we talk about 370Z pricing based on the maximum amount the car costs, while every single other car gets judged on its base price?

I'm not even saying its a good buy at $30K mind you, i'm just saying its ended up on the wrong side of a certain amount of hyperbole that resides within the enthusiast community.

Next Nissan Z Car Production Could Start September 2021

https://motorillustrated.com/next-ni...er-2021/48399/

Quote:
New Nissan 400Z could arrive in time for Christmas 2021
  • Upcoming Nissan Z could be called Nissan 400Z
  • Production could begin in late 2021
  • New Nissan Z part of a full lineup of new or updated Nissan models coming in the next 18 months
  • We got our first look at the upcoming Nissan Z car in a video published last week by Nissan. Now, a forum member on New Nissan Z is reporting that production for the new Z will begin September 2021.

The post was first reported by The Torque Report. The member gives nothing to back his or her claim, but we do know that Nissan is planning 12 new models in the next 18 months. Bringing the Z back in September 2021 would work within that timeframe.

Nothing about the new Z generation is really known at this point. We got a good view of its outline and general styling in the Nissan video published last week, but nothing more.

Rumored to be called the Nissan 400Z, it would use the same 3.0-litre V6 from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 which develops, you guessed it, 400 horsepower. Like its predecessor, it would be a two-seater.

Expect a ton of leaks, rumors, and teasers from around the web from now until the next Nissan Z breaks cover.

Which look similar to the original Datsun 240z. That's what they are going for. They are doing the best they can with what they have. I doubt they will build an all new from the ground up platform solely for the Z. Most likely it will be shared with the 370z or the Infiniti Q60.

Also super glad to hear they are using the V6TT from the Q60 Red Sport. The car will likely weigh around 3300 lbs so a 4 cylinder would have been inadequate.

I guess I just don't see the similarity to the earlier Z's. But yeah, for a struggling company that doesn't have a lot to work with, glad to see they're still trying.

Sorry, I forgot to add that it was just another rendering. Looks like the F type was used for the photoshop.

It certainly looks and sounds promising with the rumored specs and pricing.

Hmm not sure how I feel about that rear. The taillights are a nice throwback, but those waterfall air curtain things...I don't know.

The front looks like a 350Z and Focus RS had a baby.

Nissan and quality should never be used in the same sentence.

So all signs point to it just being a rebodied version of the old one. Which is a rebodied version of the one before that. Skip.

Would have been great if they'd made it something about 5/8 scale, but I guess Nissan has about as much money to develop things as Fiat right now.
