What is stage 2 for e30?
I should probably elaborate; I meant stage 2 on E30 fuel.

Stage 2+ for the BMW G30 would be intake, downpipe, and upgraded HPFP. The B58 likes octane, so mixing 91 octane gas with E85 fuel will yield E30 fuel when mixed properly, essentially creating around 103 octane or so. So by E30 I mean fuel, not an E30 BMW.
Ooh, thought I found a 30 friend 😩

I have a beater Civic, but I never drive it. I ordered a new beater coming tomorrow actually. 2019 VW GTI SE Performance Pack 6MT. Hopefully all goes well and I end up keeping it for awhile:

I do!

1996 Chevrolet S10 4.3 Vortec, barely broken in with only 106k miles. Prior to being subjected to an unplanned 6 year sit in 2016 it was immaculately maintained. Last started in 2019, it now turns over but won't catch. I suspect the fuel has turned to varnish and seized the fuel pump. In the process now of getting this truck fully road worthy again with a new fuel pump (and gas), new tires, oil, door seals, mirrors, and various rubber bits. And a good cleaning.

It actually has a fairly interesting bit of mods. Leather seat swap from a Blazer (S10s couldn't get leather), and bixenon projector headlights retrofitted in place of the sealed beams. It's also my late grandfather's truck.

My beater has very quickly become my daily. The freedom of not having to care about a thing is magical.

There's way too much stress about door dings, especially in the city where people don't seem to care and parking spaces are tight. I started using my beater as a daily years ago and lowered my anxiety significantly lol. I only take my "nice" car when I know there is good parking and no valets.

Couldn't agree more with you. With the increase in aggressive driving, hit and runs, etc., it has sucked all the joy out of taking the "nice cars" out. When I'm in the truck, I don't have to worry about a thing. Park wherever, don't have to worry about folks driving like turds, jump a curb, run over crap on the road, could care less about rocks kicking up on the highway.

I highly recommend it. There's zero anxiety and makes for a fantastic day.

We ahve an '09 x3 for combo kids car, trailer towing beater, ski mobile, winter driving, etc. It's awesome. So nice having a car you give no shits about, but is still pleasant to drive. It reaplaced our e46 xiT which was an even better beater car until it got rear ended.

I have a 2009 Camry SE I purchased from my daughter. Every panel has a nick or scratch and the wheels are curb rashed. What a great beater it is. It runs nice and is comfortable. Now that winter is over the radio display has thawed and works again. Everyone told me kids are supposed to buy cars from dad but this is working out very good for me.

My previous beater was 1994 Accord LX 5MT.
Got it from co-worker with 138K miles, added 60K miles, gave it to my sister - she added another 100K miles.
I upgraded headlights with decent projector & angel eyes, auto-headlight module, LED tails, rear view camera
Everything else was stock and fully functional.
The picture below was taken 2 weeks before car got stolen.

Current beater is 2011 E90 335d, 140K miles.
Got it from a forum member last year.

Lol love this thread! I have a 2010 MDX that is officially my beater. It has 150k miles and runs perfectly. It’s my go to Costco car as I park it anywhere and everywhere! I have to admit, I have anxiety when I park my M2 and it kills me. I need to see a shrink.

I think for simple cars, people underestimate that with a little investment you can run them through 200+ miles. Miles not KM. people baulk at a $1500 repair bill once a year but don't flinch at $650 a month on a lease.

I mean I run a 2008 9-3 wagon ffs, hardly the cheapest thing to maintain and even then, in a bad year, say $3k on repairs, it is STILL cheaper than the cheapest lease in Canada and that would be for a smaller car with less space, less power and less everything.

When i picked her up 3 years ago and another pic from last month

55k -> 130k miles

added all season michelins
brake discs resurfaced
AC needed replacing for $700 last year
Only liability insurance

Honda always recommends tons of stuff and i politely tell them no just change the oil.

With the current market i could probably sell it for what i paid. ~6k

You found it worth the labour to get the discs refinished? Cost is astronomical here, 80-pc of brand spanking new rotors.

I keep trying to convince my wife that we need a beater car. She's unwilling to learn to drive manual, so in the future if I ever need to take the SUV in for service or any any other needs, she'll be stuck at home without a car she can drive.

No luck so far...

I have the same beater in white! Super reliable and low miles. I don't drive it at all though. I gave it to my sister to drive through college. Now it gets driven once and awhile by my mom.
