Strut Failure a Wear Item or Covered by Warranty
Looking at a ‘13 35is with 40k miles and trying to decide whether or not to get the warranty. I know struts tend to go out. Would that be covered by a good warranty or is that a “wear and tear” item.
Beyond that would you buy a warranty or not? I typically do, but rarely use them. I had a ‘15 with 20k miles and it never had anything go wrong. For the record, I drive less than 6k miles a year. Thanks. |

Warranties cover "manufacturer's defects". Struts wearing out is not a defect, it's wear and tear.
You're looking at an almost 10 year old car, I can't imagine any warranty that would apply. BMW's warranties are only extendable to 7 years (3 years beyond factory). You might find an aftermarket warranty, but I would suspect it wouldn't be cost effective. You can always test the market and see what quotes you get. Read the fine print to see what's covered and what it costs. Gerry
