I agree with this. Audi is Volkswagon and really have too many problems. Junk if you will. Good luck to you, but Audi's really are not very good cars. BMW's have gotten really good over the past few years. I think they are up there with the Japanese cars or at least close when it comes to problem free.

You may want to rethink.

The RS4 is clearly better than the E46 M3. It's also about 15k more than the E46 M3, so it SHOULD be better.

Now, when the E92 M3 comes out, I fully expect the BMW to be the better car of the two, but I'm damn glad the RS4 is out now, pushing the new M3 when it comes out to be the best it can be against the competition. But yeah, for the next 12 months until then, the RS4 is a beast.

Here's an interior pic of the RS4 if you guys haven't seen it, btw. I love BMW's and am a faithful owner and even have my deposit down already for the 335i, but damn if I don't wish BMW made interiors this good.

I love the RS4, good competition to make BMW push the limits. Its quite expensive though and the M3 looks better IMO.

I have to agree. There is no doubt Audi has BMW beat with interiors. With an Audi it's truly about quality with their interiors. They take it to a level beyond BMW. Reliability is a different story...if you are comparing to the 3 series. Someone above mentioned BMW has gotten a lot better in the past few years. Not necessarily true. The 3 series typically do great but the others (especially with the 4.4) aren't close to Japanese reliability.

I drove the RS4 at the Audi event at Belmont Park. It's a great car. Very powerful and handles great.

actully audi listed as 3rd out of 50 cars manufacture that has less problem,,i think the first was infiniti,,i read it some where i really forgot where!but i will look for it..audi used to have electric problem in the old days but not anymore,,i remmber mercedes was number 30 something and bmw wasnt in the first 10...anyway i drive an s4 for 5 months now and its very nice car,,the only downside i really kinda found is that the power,,its not as fast as i expected,,or maybe its just too smooth that i cant feel much power coming out of it,,but i think my car can easily handle 400 hp..but i put deposit already on the new M3 and i will not get RS4 insted of the new M3,,,are you kidding me...its called M3 .....

If RS4 is around $72K I rather have a base M5 instead for $84K and let's see which car is going to hold it resales value.

The S4 engine has such a smooth/linear powerband that it feels slower than it is. Rather than a major takeoff in the high rpms it just pulls smoothly/strongly from the 2k-7k rpms.

the RS4 and the 330 are in different classes. the m3 would be a better comparison. but you gotta love that audi quattro and that v8 not to mention the audi interiors are the best in class. but that audi reliablity issue is a downer

the RS4 interior is amazing, i wonder if the new M3 interior will be a lot different from the current E90. Not saying the E90 interior is not good, but RS4 interior sure is nicer than E90's!

i know they're fast, but i never considered the RS4 par with M3. I think the M3 is just a superior car, period, esp. when the new model arrives.... I like audi's, but they were never quite up to BMW.

maybe i'll buy that.

Nice car and nice interior. However, the M3 image in my mind is so much that I can't think of any other possible competitor: Audi RS4 or Lexus IS500.

One vw division luxury never matches the top. I think rs4 its above 3 series and under 5 series and m5 its better than rs6. The interior is matching the japanese level in order to sell more cars lol. In doubt ? See the photo rs6 above. And look out 89.200 € lol, for what ?

For the price of a RS4, BMW offers you an M5, it has 2 cylinders more and ~90 Hp more, more space and and and. Try it once, and you will think that Rs4 is for kids without success with girls. But if you need Quattro to stay on the road, then choose the audi.

For $72k the US-spec RS4 is a joke. All that money and you don't even get the RS-exclusive equipment. Plus, I haven't seen an RS4 dyno that made it pass 380whp.

RS4 is obviously M3 material, I hope you werent realistically comparing it to the E90. I really like the look of the current RS4 opposed to the several previous models.

The problem is even in the RS4/M3 comparison, the RS4 is AWD. I still think it will be interesting to see how they compare with comepletely different drivetrains. Turbo vs NA, AWD vs RWD, Manual vs Step... (I think the M3 will be like the M5 with step only.)

You have a terrible comparison. You are comparing a body style released in what, 2000 (or so?) to a 2005 style.

If you compare things, at least compare the same revisions. This is the new RS6 which should be compared to M5:

I think it looks great, but personally, I still thing the M5 looks better and is a better car, but I'm partial, I own a BMW.
