Brake light bulb replacement
This seems like such a simple question I'm embarrassed to ask. I searched the forum and didn't see much The brake light closest to the trunk went out. I got to the bulb ok but it wasn't the one I expected to see (Sylvania 921). It dosen't look like something I can just pull out. I tried twisting it but don't want to break it off. What is the proper replacement and how do I get the old one out? Thanks.

Press bulb down, then turn counterclockwise.

If you are asking how to remove it from the light housing, you just pull straight out.
Once you have the bulb holder out, it is a barrel bulb so you need to push in and 1/8th turn will let the bulb release. |

Check your car's manual or use an online bulb finder tool for the correct replacement. Some bulbs may need a slight twist or a push and twist to be removed. Look for any tabs or arrows indicating the direction to turn. If there's any resistance, double-check the bulb type and turn accordingly. If you're unsure, you can always visit an auto parts store, and they can help you identify the correct bulb and offer guidance on replacement. |
