They were on their backs against the Bolts in game 6. He singlehandedly carried the Pens to that victory and had a phenomenal game 7. The Conn Smythe typically rewards clutch performances and players who carry their teams over the top and Crosby fits that bill more than anyone else on the Penguins.

Without Kessel the Pens would likely still be playing for the Cup. Without Crosby or Bonino or Letang or Malkin? Not so much.

I agree. He is their leader and has pushed that team by example. At this point it is Crosby.

I wonder if Pavelski, Marleau, couture or thorton will finally show up. Hertl was looking great but he broke down like a BMW outside of warranty

That's pretty much it. Pavelski does not have a point in this series. All of those guys have energy and look fairly dangerous out there but are not getting results which I have to attribute to the Pens outstanding D. It comes down to these guys need to overcome one way or another.

Too much talk about winning at home and who the MVP is. I sure hope the Pens aren't soaking this up yet. Not worried about the guys who've been there...just the ones who havent.

Yeah..Sharks came out firing and Murray was shaky...good to see some of the big players getting things going. And weathering the storm later as well. Penguins still got a lot of shots, but lets take it back to San Jose....get another win and all bets are off.

How about the goaltending by Jones? Tell ya what...Pens have lost many a 3-1 series because a goalie has gotten hot. Recently too....Rangers and Tampa.

Murray did look bad at the start...kudos for Sullivan sticking with him, cause I would have pulled him for sure.

If anything, SJ crushed the hopes of thousands of fans packed dawntawn.

Jones was huge--but he has been that way all season. The Pens took a lot of shots but at this level any shot from 20-30 feet with no screen or deflection will be stopped every time--both goals were deflections. The shot count is a little misleading in this case, but there were about ten really dangerous shots that he took care of. Hell, I'm just happy to be watching hockey in the middle of June. So, now we know the Pens can win in SJ and Sharks in Pitt.

Well...I think both teams have proven their abilities to beat the shit out of the goal posts. Not only with pucks....but body parts as well.

Don't get me wrong, Murray's been pretty good ... but this is the third straight series where the better goalie's been at the other end of the ice (Holtby, Vasilevskiy, Jones).

Normally when the opposition goalies start regularly stealing games, teams don't go this far. It's evidence of just how good Pittsburgh is right now that they can lose a game or two each series almost entirely because of goaltending and still prevail.

San Jose has been completely outclassed in this series. Tampa Bay and Washington were closer to Pittsburgh than the Sharks are. This ends Sunday in San Jose.
