Heated Steering Wheel Turns on randomly
My heated steering wheel turns on by itself randomly. When I push the button to turn off it stays on for a while then usually turns off after 10-15 seconds. A few minutes later might go on again.
Tried a search on the forum but not seeing anything. Bad switch? Other ideas? |

Sorry, I've no experience with that issue, only some links.

The control module for the heated wheel is located within the wheel itself (behind the lower spoke). As far as I'm aware it is not replaceable. This module is what controls the operation of the heated wheel along with the switch.
So with that in mind I'd consider trying a replacement switch first and if that doesn't rectify the problem then I believe you are looking at a replacement wheel. I've attached a photo of the wheel with the airbag removed. The heater module is under the lower spoke (not visible) and is the wire to the blue plug. SAFETY NOTE** If you are considering removing the airbag then you'll need to remove the neg lead from the battery and wait 15 minutes before disconnecting the airbag wire plug. Also insert something to prevent the boot (trunk) lid from closing while the battery is disconnected.

This control module can be replaced.
Example: https://www.leebmann24.de/lenkradhei...319217864.html The correct part number should be checked with your car's VIN. |

A new module would, potentially, need coding to the car though.

Thank you all for the input.
Seems reasonable to change the switch first and go from there. Probably a spring task since it's almost time to put her in storage for the winter. |
