N20 Class Action Suit???

Anyone on here have the 28i and have any problems related to this class action suit? Just curious if this is a real issue or just a couple of defective motors that somehow have gotten the attention of the litigious wolves?

Mine is definitely louder than it should be, but I haven't dug in to find out if its the chain making the noise, but its a very good possibility. It's got 82k miles.

Apparently if you remove the oil filler cap you can see if there is any damage to the plastic chain guide that is right under the filler cap. Mine looks fine. It is the one that reportedly has a problem - it is orangish in color. The replacement part is more white - but could be brownish depending on how clean your oil is.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll check that tomorrow.

Good afternoon, I just bought a 2014 20i sDrive, I am really keen to follow this aspect. I made the car undergo full inspection, and they did not see any issue with the timing chain, yet I would like to know more about what could I do to prevent the failure.

Thanks
