Nutmeg contains Myristicin, and if ingested in large doses, can produce hallucinogenic results/effects similar to LSD. Who knew?!?!

The things you learn as a D.R.E. in training. Lol!

Hey Sedan, as an experienced LEO but also a car enthusiast, I wonder what radar detector you would recommend.

Or perhaps it's a lost cause when it comes to Lidar (being as quick as they are) being used to nab speeders?

IMHO radar detectors are fairly useless most of the time, especially if I'm shooting LIDAR, which is instant on/instant off. By the time you see me, I've already nabbed you. LIDAR can give me as speed as long as I can see the car. With that said, depending on where you are and what types of roads you regularly drive on, a radar detector could prove beneficial if the law enforcer isn't running LIDAR and there are multiple vehicles around you.

Anything from Uniden or one of the top brands will be of sufficient quality and technology.

Thanks, that's what I figured. Asking for a friend of course.

BTW, did you know nutmeg is an insecticide? Also, what is considered a "large dose" I wonder. Might have to put a bit more in my cappuccino.

Yesss radar detectors are ineffective. Nothing to see here, move along. This is not the car you're looking for.

I didn't know that. The spray insecticides fall under the "inhalants" drug category and are considered aerosols.

"Large dose" is dependent on the person.

Gotta love Wiki.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myristicin

Psychoactive Effects
The psychotropic potential of myristicin is believed to emerge when it is metabolized into MMDA, an amphetamine derivative that is reported to have a more potent hallucinogenic effect than mescaline.[2] There is more research needed on the exact mechanism of action of myristicin in the body.

Brief Overview of Chemical Synthesis: Myristicin to MMDMA[3]
With a chemical structure resembling amphetamines and other precursors, myristicin can also be used to synthesize illicit hallucinogenic drugs. Under controlled conditions, myristicin isolated from nutmeg oil can be converted into MMDMA, a synthetic "designer drug" amphetamine derivative that is less potent than MDMA but produces comparable stimulant and hallucinogenic effects.[3] A 400 mg dose of myristicin has been shown to produce “mild cerebral stimulation” in 4 out of 10 human subjects. Myristicin is most commonly consumed in nutmeg, and 400 mg would be contained in approximately 15 g of nutmeg powder. However, at a minimum dose of about 5 g of nutmeg powder, symptoms of nutmeg intoxication can begin to emerge, indicating the interaction of other compounds contained in nutmeg.[8] elemicin and safrole are also components of nutmeg that, while at lower concentrations than myristicin, are thought to contribute to the hallucinogenic and physiological symptoms of nutmeg intoxication.[11]

Are police dogs generally male or female? Also, if an officer is involved in a motor vehicle accident on duty is it based on his car insurance or the offices? And if it is found the officer was at faultIn the accident does he get tickets?

Great question(s) actually. I've seen both male and female service dogs. I don't know that the department is picky about gender like they are about temperament.

When we have on-duty traffic collisions, the department issues "points." The accidents are reported to the DMV, but they aren't categorized the same way as a traffic collision in our POV's. Our own auto insurance isn't affected either. If you receive too many points, you get benched from driving a department vehicle for a period of time (…and you'll have to ride with a partner during that benched time, always as the book-man)….

….and I prefer not to have a partner in the car with me. I like my office ran my way.

I found out today, too, that they decided to use department personnel for Wednesday's wet lab. Ughhhh! I wanted to see UncleWede inebriated.

The largest that I've personally uncovered was a key of cocaine, about 1000 Xanax tabs and a few pounds of marijuana……oh!, and a grow house with thousands of marijuana plants; the latter I fortuitously stumbled upon by responding to a residential trespassing call. The grow house was run by Chinese nationals in an affluent neighborhood.

Key of cocaine, isn’t that a mandatory 5 years? More if you are caught moving across multiple counties. What does the grow house get you, 6 mature plants is legal?
