My wife isn't happy

Yep, I've been ordering parts and supplies for my Z4 so when I get it out of storage, I can start working on my Z4 to-do list.

My latest purchase showed up a few days ago and my wife chimed in and asked me how come I'm buying stuff for my Z4 when the exhaust on my Infinity needs to be fixed? Well, my simple answer is that my Infiniti gets me to and from work just fine and I don't care if it sounds like a jalopy. It will get fixed sometime this year.

Have any of my fellow Z4 enthusiasts run into this problem?

We have a contra trade (implicit) agreement…I spend money on my Zed, SWMBO spends money on 3 horses…

Only time I got into serious difficulties was when I had 3 yellow toys…

I have the same situation. A wonderful wife who tolerates my interests and expenses. I purchase, and then apologize or explain (rationalize) after. Glad I'm not alone in this!
Cheers.

In a month I will have been married for 35 years. Even though we were young when we married, she understood my obsession. My kids have also grown up in it.

It did take a little explaining when I bought the Z. I already had the 911 turbo and M4. I told her and my daughter that I wanted to buy a Z4 (my daughter has a E85 Z4). My wife said "what are you getting rid of", my daughter said "haha funny". That was classic.

Whew, I'm glad it's not just me.

B21, yellow must be your favorite color. Mine is yellow too.

I have quite a few Z4 projects in the works and am getting a pile of boxes in the garage.

Steering wheel makeover
Headlight fixture rebuild
Water pump/thermostat replacement with coolant flush and hose replacement
Motor mounts/tranny mounts
Stereo upgrade
Stainless steel brake lines, brake fluid flush
And a few other things I'm forgetting.

Ha ha. Between my Aston Martin, Z4 and X1 35i MSport I'm setting for a track car, I put Renntech tune on my wife's GLE AMG... she's ok again...

Don't get me started on Boats... that's a whole different challenge that's more difficult to overcome.

My daughter is definitely on my side, especially since I promised her my Aston Martin...

On the coding side I have enabled a few features using BimmerCode.

Auto lock the door locks at 10kph
Turn off the passenger seat seatbelt chime (a bag of groceries would set it off)
Enabled ease of access when opening the door
Lower/raise the roof when moving up to 15kph

I haven’t been able to lower/raise the roof using the key fob but it’s possible my Z doesn’t have that feature.

Roof from fob came with comfort access option. So if your car unlocks/ locks with the touch of the door handle and starts with no key in the slot, then it also should have roof from fob. If not then it doesnt...
Also can tell from the fob...if fob has replaceable cr2032 tablet battery, then it has comfort access. If it doesnt have that then fob has integral rechargeable battery and no comfort access. It charges in the keyslot.

On the coding side i recommend also adding digital speed display in the little screen between the gauges. Quite useful.
And if you have idrive then remove/raise dvd playback speed limit. Then you can have dvd-s playing while driving around.

Hmmm, no lock/unlock by touching the door handle and definitely needs the fob to be inserted in order to start.

And yes, I had forgotten about the speed indicator on the digital display. I have that enabled and it’s very useful. I’m 6’3” tall so the steering wheel blocks off the top of the speedometer unless I duck down a bit.

Fun cars = Happy couple

I've always had fun cars. My wife is the practical one. But when I showed her a Nassau Blue Metallic SLK230, she was hooked.

She then talked me into selling my Corvette (and my beloved '94 Miata) for the Zed.

We're both very happy.
