FS: BNIB AR Design catless downpipes

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds

Item Interest
For sale are a pair of brand new, in box AR Design downpipes. As with the KWs, I had these set aside in preparation for a build on the Z4, but it appears I will now have to sell the car. I am asking for $750 shipped.

These items retail for around $1000 new. Save yourself $200 by buying mine. These come in the original packaging and include all the installation hardware. As you can see, I never even removed them from the original bubble wrap. (I took the packing peanuts out for the photos, but will of course pour them back in before shipping.)

I will also include, for free, a Burger Tuning "Downpipe Fix" which is a device that keeps the o2 sensor from triggering a CEL.

Yes, but I also have a Burger Tuning downpipe fix that I will include for free with this. It completely eliminates the CEL and tricks the vehicle into thinking the o2 sensors are ready.

Also, a tune will disable the second o2 sensor and thus eliminate the CEL. For example, a Cobb Stage 2 will automatically disable the code.

Really? How long have you had them on the car?

You must be one of the lucky ones.

I never had an issue with them on my car. I was tuned with Cobb and passed inspection for 3 years in a row with no issue.

This is a great deal BTW. Someone need to pick these up and the KW's as well. I had them on my Z4 and they transformed the car. The stock suspension on the Z4 if horrible unless you want to go on a Sunday cruise.

Thanks, dude. I agree; I am shocked that these and the KWs haven't been snatched up. The combo would transform the E89 from a tame tourer to a legitimate sports car.

I would absolutely keep them and mod the E89 were it not for the fact that we are starting a family and it's either the E89 or my fully modded E92 M3.

Depends.

A visual inspection probably won't detect it since it's buried behind the engine.

A sniffer test would probably fail, but it's my understanding that most places have moved away from the sniffer test and are now doing OBDII testing and a visual.

An OBDII scan might pass depending on what you do about the CEL (assuming you get one, which I believe most will). If you were to use a "DP fix" or an o2 sensor extender, you'd probably pass. If not, it's likely you won't.

I think it will sound pretty good. Definitely increase the turbo spool and BOV sounds, plus it will give it a little deeper exhaust note and will make the overrun burbles even more pronounced.

Not trying to be a pusher, but on a build like yours, it's a no brainer, IMO. Your car already looks the part and is absolutely gorgeous; might as well give it what it needs to really put the power down.

To be honest, I was shocked it didn't sell quickly. Price was perfect brand new... Also it scares me it will take longer to sell when I go back to stock in future

You and me both. I thought for sure they would be gone in a heartbeat. But the E89 Z4 market is a small one and it seems that most Z4 owners are more conservative with modding. That is a shame because the absolute best thing about the E89 Z4 is its appearance, but it's chassis and power have a lot of room for improvement, especially the chassis.

Stock, the car is a bit soft and squirrely. But dump some coin into some decent coilovers, bushings, and tires, and I bet it would feel as good as it looks. Add some power (FMIC, downpipes, tune), and you've got a very capable car that can run with some impressive vehicles. Sadly, I'll never know first hand. But I'm confident in the platform's potential with quality mods that, if funds ever allow, I would like to pick up a late model E89 35is and do a proper build the way I was planning to do this one.
