Put a deposit down on ‘21 M850i Grand Coupe, Good Price???

Thanks in advance for advice/opinions
I’ve been on the hunt for my next vehicle for a few months now. I have a F10 550i that has been an incredible car to own with 185,000 near flawless miles. Bought it new and it still runs like a champ but It started an upper oil pan oil leak, its slow but nevertheless its an $2500 fix at the dealer, The car is worth like 5k LOL. And I’m ready for a change.
On Saturday I put a deposit down on a 21 M850i Gran Coupe. Contingent on a couple things the dealer said they would take care of.
I was really wanting an M5 but this car really got me thinking do I need an M5. Ive always loved the styling of the 6 series and the 8’s. One of the best looking cars on the road. My hesitancy is that it’s close to M5 pricing for a 2020. 2021 M5’s seem to be around 10-20k more. But as a daily driver would a 2020 base M5 or an M850 be better? I’ve read through several posts on this and it seems like a tie for daily use. Realistically I would never track the car and race on the street but I do like to have fun on my own when it’s clear and safe. I opened this 850 up and its no slouch but not M5 fast obviously.

This car checked my top 3 criteria for what I was looking for:
1. Low Mileage, 8700
2. Well maintained, Carbon Black Paint is near perfect, no swirl marks, Interior perfect condition, although there is a faint smell of previous owner smoking, part of the contingency that they will get smell out, they promised they will ozone it and get it out
3. CPO warranty until Dec 25 unlimited miles

Price out the door $84k, Is this a good price? From my research it seams like a really good deal but would like to hear others opinions.

If you're not going to track the car or push it (i.e. backroads driving) there's a strong case for the M850i. But it's tough to say unless you actually drive both. The 850i will have a softer ride and lighter steering and won't have the "edge" of the M5. Whether that trade off for comfort for a daily driver is worth it imo depends on individual.

At $84k I think you're not far away from a '23 G30 V8? I paid quite a bit less than that for a new 540i in June, but I did not price out the 550 version. The B58 has all of the power I want plus MPG that exceed my expectation. Your horsepower needs are in a different league than mine!

Mostly highway trips, I’m in sales and can be in the car for several hours a day.
850 might be the better long cruiser and the back seats have more leg room for clients than the 550 does, although there is less headroom

I looked at and drove a couple LCI 550’s, although the power and ride is great I think they really missed the mark in the interior and I’m not a huge fan of the way they re did the front end. I actually like the interior better on my 550 from 2014 then I do the new one . I think the 850 is a huge step in in quality and design. Just my opinion

yep, definitely at the interior the 5- and 8- are not in the same league.

Having M5 myself I really love the 8GC looks. We wanted an M car so 5 series fit the bill with what we we’re comfortable with spending at the time. M8 was not in the budget back than. I still think that 8 series GC is one of the best modern designs by BMW. I don’t see how 850/550 would not be powerful enough for street use. Non M will definitely be more comfortable. As far as price goes at this level $3K $5k doesn’t make a difference. What’s important is if it is what you like, and that’s all that matters.
