Not feeling the new rear bumper styling. This, the M2, etc.

I kinda love it a nice sport feel and look compared to say an x3 the car is for people right out of college who need a bit more practicality.

Overall I agree, good car, good choice for plenty of people. Maybe even myself.

It's the styling thing, this dog-bone / batwing / whatever shape they are doing to the bumpers, especially the rear here. I don't get it.

What about it in black where it would hide such accent lines?

Well, I don't mean to muck up your thread, but still wouldn't be a fan even in all black. I don't get the shape at all. I've just never been a fan of "let's add a bunch of plastic to the car, and have it sticking out all over the place, and have it hollow underneath and serve no purpose at all".

You shouldn't need to get a black car so you can hide it's needless black plastic bits. Rest of the car looks pretty nice, I quite like it.

But, where have a seen a bumper connect to a car like that before? Hmm.

Why did they put gaffer tape over the X1 and xDrive badges on the—wait, no, everything is covered up! Why? “You’ve been invited to a private viewing by a manufacturer you must have expressed some interest in at some point. You’ll be completely in the dark! Well, unless you look at it head-on and notice maybe the most unmistakable design element of any car on the road today?”

The front is fine. Really don’t like what they’ve done with the back end.

It was only for bmw employees as myself though the cars were in semi public they didn't want any other wandering eyes. The did hide the engine badge a bit better because mot everything is finalized so the spotters and reviewers jump the gun again this car won't hit the roads for a while. By hiding it they can deny it's like the x3 LCI etc.

the only good looking X1 was the 1st generation—which was based off the E8X/E9X chassis, came in RWD also, and had some of the nicest hydraulic steering for a non-M car I'd driven. All it was missing was a manual!

It was also low like a raised hatchback, rather than a dumpy looking SUV it became for the 2nd generation—and now this!

You think this is the worse of the three generations? It's funny you mention the first gen because everyone mentioning the Batman-esk Tailights remind me of the first gen x1 the top came out to be like a sharp point

Outside of N.A. the first gen came with the N52 engine as well. And obviously a MT. That would be a pretty sweet ride!
I'm actually on a low key search for a first gen that's had the timing guides done. Very few private party/enthusiast owned ones out there. They are all crap dealers that purchased from auction :-/

Ah, thanks. Covering up the BMW roundel is still funny, but keeping the model unknown makes sense.

Front looks just like the LCI X3 so nothing groundbreaking there. Rear definitely looks different. Something weird going on with the taillight corners. I don't really care for the black plastic trend BMW is on to right now but at least it's uniform across the bumper. Interior is much nicer as to me that was always the weak point of the X1. Overall a little more aggressive looking than the last gen with a better interior. Should do well seeing it doesn't have much in the way of stiff competition in this segment as the GLA is pure junk.
