Weird top question

I live in a warm humid climate. I notice that when I open the top and the glass lifts off of the trunk, there seems to be slight resistance and an audible sound (almost like removing a suction cup) when the rubber seal of the roof panel separates from the plastic of the trunk. Is there any type of spray or lubricant that I can use the keep them from adhering together when the top is closed without harming the rubber or plastic?

Hello Bryan, I've been using a product that is commonly recommended by many BMW owners. It is called "Gummi Pflege Stift" by Nextzett. I get mine on Amazon. Just clean the rubber seal with soap and water, wipe with clean cloth moistened with clean water for a rise. Then apply the Gummi Pflege. It can be used on all the seals in the top, doors, and hood. You may want to lube the hinges inside the top and trunk. Use a light oil spray, with a long straw applicator. Just spray a little into each hinge, just a drop or two per hinge. You may also want to change those "salmon relays" on the top hydraulic pump/motor assembly just near the battery in the trunk. These relays control the top open, and close function. They conduct the full battery amperage to the motor to drive the hydraulic pump. If one or the other fails the top will stop, and leave you with a 1/2 open or closed top, or worse yet fully open top, and no truck access. No emergency close. Big $ to fix, at the dealer.

I use Gummi Pflege as well for all rubber seals!
