sdrive35is without brushed aluminum mirrors?

Hi, I've seen a couple of sdrive35is's with body colored mirrors and not the brushed aluminum. Why is that? And also, how expensive/slash difficult is it to install the brushed aluminum?

Thanks.

My 35i has body colored mirrors. I thought they all did!

I got that, but it couldn't be that difficult/expensive to swap out the mirror (caps?) from a 35i.

Like in the sig? Easy as pie.

The roll bars are also painted the same bodywork colour.

Next I want to paint the badges and callipers in very dark red.

I'm trying to find out if those mirrors were part of a packaged when ordered. I'm shopping for A 35is, just trying to gather some info.

It seems the silver mirrors and roll bars were standard in the 35is, even if the car was silver. Lol

i have read threads from the time these cars were new, where people didnt like those silver mirrors. Thought that they looked out of place or hideous and were considering painting them in body colour.

So probably thats what happened to those few you have seen with body coloured mirrors.

Yep, from what I've read here the production numbers for the 35is were very low (SickFinga estimates 1,948 total in the NA market, if I'm reading correctly) and I believe they all got the silver mirror/roll bar treatment.

I have an early 2011 35is (which also has the original, worst set of paddle shifters I've ever seen...BMW apparently changed them out very quickly when it became apparent how easy it was to unintenionally upshift the vehicle) in deep sea blue and have considered painting both several times. That originality is the only thing holding me back.

Garage List
I recently bought a 35is after looking around for 3 months to find the "right" one. From my research, all 35is came with the silver mirror caps up until end of production in 2016. If you're seeing any without, then they were replaced with body matching caps by the owner. Primed caps are relatively cheap from dealer ($70 per + painting cost). Unfortunately silver caps are no longer available for purchase from dealer.

I generally don't like chrome/silver trim on my cars, but I intend to keep mine fully stock to maintain its originality as well.

I don't know if they were painted before I bought the car, but my 2011 Atacama Yellow 35is has body-colored mirrors. In a photo search I see many with yellow mirror caps and a very small number with silver or black caps. It's a mystery.
