Well, the locking is done on the lower roof shell, that is the front shell.
If you can lift it up manually and you hear a click, then it is NOT locked. But this locking is a prerequisite to start the lid's closing.

You could measure this switch behaviour on its plug, that you already found earlier behind the big black cover plate on the right. It's a switch with integrated resistors like all the others: 570 & 2770 ohms.

Where are you from? Sweden or USA?

Thank you RobbiZ4 for pointing out where I could find the plug so I could measure the switch.
After removing the plastic panel I could get access to the plug and dismount the switch. The switch looked good, it clicked fine and felt ok. BUT it stayed solid at 2770 Ohm when pressing the switch, so it was not functioning.

I took one of the old micro switches that I replaced earlier and made a temporary installation as I was curious to see if the problem was solved, and sure the trunk now closes as it should!!

So thank youRobbiZ4 and Bigendbob for your excellent support to help me find the problem!

And yes Robbi, I live in Sweden, we have long winters here, so its good to have had time to fix this before the convertible season starts.
-By the way do you happen to have the part number for this specific microswitch since I want to install a new one?

Congratulation, well done!

With my "Y3 Roof Diagnostic Tool", these kind of faults can be clearly diagnosed in less than 1 hour!

This part can be seen in the following chart on position 07:

Have a look at the inner components of this kind of microswitches:
