The blue would look great!....However...I believe CA is as strict about "No Blue Lights facing front, side or rear" just like AZ.

From taking a really good look at the "blue" units, you could argue that they are not quite blue at all but actually just really cool white. ( I am a lighting guy, specializing in LED lamps.) I would guess the Correlated Colour Temperature of these is about 5500 to 6000 Kelvin, easily passible as 'cool white'.

Also, the angel eyes act as daytime running lights only, with the HID headlights coming on for after dark operation.

I just ordered some... will let you know exactly what they are like once I receive and install.

I got the Alpine HID from Alpine MSS. I was looking for something brighter than the MTECs, and they are cheaper than the LUX and AIB's.

Here's a before and after pic. These are the 6000K bulbs.

A warning that they are very bright. Bright enough that I'm concerned that I might have problems passing inspection, since they throw light all over the place. However no one has flashed me yet to complain.

Installation is not difficult, but is not plug and play. It requires wiring the ballasts to your battery terminal, and drilling holes in your headlight enclosure caps. The kit includes rubber grommets to make your holes water-tight again. Also the kit is designed for an X5/X6, so the positive lead is just barely long enough to reach the battery. I spliced in extra length in the wire, so I could zip-tie the wire in a neater fashion.

I also had 1 defective ballast, which would occasionally go out, and stay off until I restarted the car. Alex promptly sent me a replacement, and I've been problem free since then.

Extra note, when installing the bulbs, I removed the white plastic ring under the rubber seal, and then moved the rubber seal into the groove where the plastic ring was. I'm assuming that the plastic ring is an optional spacer to ensure a tight fit in some models, but I could not get the bulb to fit with the plastic ring in place. I got a nice seal once I removed the plastic ring.

Here's a side-by-side pic I spliced together. You can see how bright the Alpines are compared to the stock bulbs

Thanks!
I just attemtped to install the LED H8 replacements. They do NOT fit our E89's. The LEDs are 0.778" in diameter and the H8's are 0.448" while the hole in the Angel Eye housing is 0.500" I have contacted EuroCarConcepts requesting a full refund. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. The LEDs are a very high quality product and I'd love to be able to use them.

It's a real shame too, these are very high quality LEDs' I called Euro Effects and they are picking up the return postage and refunding my purchase 100%.

our LUX H8 V3 fits ( 99% sure). We have a new version that we are testing to see if they fit on the car without modifications.

So are there any LED bulbs for the E89 angel eyes that have been proven to be plug and play?

Before I drop $250 on some LED lamps I would like more information from LuxAngelEyes. I am an LED lamp development specialist, so I know a thing or two about LEDs.

1: What brand and series of chip are you using?
2: What is the total Lumen output of the lamp at 6500K?
3: I don't see any heat sinks behind the LED chips, and yet the angel eyes are operating continuously while driving. What is the operating junction temperature of your LED chips?
4: Have you done any LM79 testing to determing the L70 (life) of the lamps?

Thanks and kind regards.

Will somebody who bought bulbs from Lux please post some real-world photos so we can see how they look in a E89?
