Well, the point is if you get it fixed, it should stay fixed and extended warranty is no t needed (in theory)

I just received the recall notice today. Letter says they still don't have the parts but I will be notified when they do so I can make the appointment.

Just received 2 letters on Friday (Z & X3). Says there are no parts available yet for the recall and that I will be contacted when the parts become available. My VIN appears on each letter in the top right corner.
Also says the work will take approximately 4 hours to complete. Dave

Yes, my VIN is on there. But when I checked a few weeks ago it also said I had no recalls at the current moment.

I also got called by the dealership concerning this. They ordered the parts and it was a few weeks' wait, apparently the demand is high. Anyway, it was a quick fix, just lasted a couple of hours. Glad to have got that out of the way.

Finally got both cards booked. One for next week (z) and the other one the following week (x). Getting long cranks on the Z, but no check engine light and the X seems to be fine. They're giving me an extended warranty on the X as well which is nice.

Took my 2011 35i in for service this morning and the service manager said that they were aware of the VANOS recall, but BMW had not yet told them what to do about it. Weird.

Finally getting the chance to respond to the recall for Vanos bolt replacement for my 2011 3.0i. Has anyone had any issues with this recall? One local BMW dealer can do the work in four hours. Another wants the car left overnight indicating the engine must be totally cold to torque the Vanos bolts properly. The latter seems to make sense to me. Also concerned over future valve cover leaks if new gasket is not sealed properly. Any feedback is appreciated.
