Vrsf downpipe and fmic

Has anyone else installed these in their E89? Just had the husband install both this weekend, switched over to the stage 2+ Cobb tune, and it's amazing. Sounds fantastic, and my gas mileage is phenomenal... Just thought I'd share.

Very nice! Did you get the 5" or the 7" FMIC? How's the fitment?

I have the 7"

I had to modify the lower plastic shield that covers the bottom of the IC

7"
The fitment itself was decent, but we had to modify a few things:
The outlet hose side needed a "custom" hose, the one it came with didn't fit. The bottom part of the bumper had to be cut, as there wasn't enough room. Besides that, perfect lol.

Forgot about the hose - I had to cut one of the provided hoses and make a new one I think

I saw no need to cut the bumper - never an issue for me. Just the plastic surround trim on the bottom.

Should've clarified, just had to trim as well, not cut a lot

What are the practical differences between a 5" and 7" FMIC? I imagine the 7" keep intake air temps lower but do you pay any price in lag?

Not that i can tell. Never tried to measure it in any way but it feels ok to me.

In sport mode you are already keeping the rpms up so any affect seems negligible.

Yeah, for the vast majority of people it seems like it's not even a consideration. I've got a 6mt and autocross though so low rpm response can make a really noticeable difference for me...

Hello Guys

I m going to buy a z4 3.5 and wan to put it with a stage 2 MHD+ so I need downpipes and FMIC

I had a VRSF 7 on my ex 335 e92, I had to cut a little, same thing here I guess but for the hose can we use the lower pipe in option or not? Just cut the hose that come with the kit or have to find another one before the install?

For the down pipes, same question, just some modification or I have to prepare something before I go to the garage?

Thanks

The downpipe fits perfectly, but the fmic will need a straight section of silicone hose on the outlet side of the intercooler to meet up with the charge pipe . Make sure to buy plenty of additional hose clamps. Good luck with the installation

Forget my question, you talk about the special Z4 VRSF DP not the 335 DP

I changed a bolt on the motor mount to a lower profile hex head to give me a couple more mm clearance for the downpipes.

You dont need the extra cost metal pipe that vrsf wants to suggest you may need for the IC. Just get a small straight silicone adapter. I think I cut one about 3" long.

Those of you considering the VSRF FMIC for the E89 Z4 with the N54, get the 7" HD . I go through logs daily from all over the world in just about all conditions, it a phenomenal performing intercooler.

Right. They know it doesn't work for the Z4 yet they market it for the Z4 and continue to send the adapters that don't work. I even paid extra for a pipe I couldn't use.

I think I ended up taking the long 3"-2 1/2" coupler and cutting it down to about 3" long. Don't recall what else it took to make work.

yeah I was thinking off cutting that 90 degree adapter down to size and installing a straight pipe after and seeing if it works but there is hardly any room. you think when you have time you could send a picture of what yours looks like so I have an idea on what I may need to do. and thanks for the input

To the right you see the stock flex coupler connected to stock pipe in the center.

On the left, you see the small section I cut from a reducer coupler connecting the intercooler and stock pipe.

thanks I will give it a try. He bought an after market charge pipe at the throttle body so I'm going to see if it will work
