Electrical Woes? - No Audio...sometimes
2010 Z4 35i
So I'm useless when it comes to electronics, so hoping for some insight. From what I know, the car chimes 3 times on start up, here's the "symptoms" When starting the car: 1) 95% of the time, i get nothing. No audio, no chimes, no radio, no gps voice. Nothing. 2) Other 5% of the time, it's either - audio kicks in on the last chime, radio kicks in shortly after - music/audio will kick in after starting to drive (1-2 minutes usually, scares the crap out of me if i forget to lower the volume) - the audio works as intended. I'll hear all 3 chimes. ***I've never had the audio cut out while driving if it's working*** - the symptoms seem completely random, if i get lucky and have it working, generally doesn't work if i turn the car off/on again. Fuses tested ok. Next plan was to tear apart the trunk looking for the amp. Any suggestions? Last edited by eli371; 09-06-2020 at 11:18 PM.. |

Batteries that are near the end of their life can do really strange things with electrical components.
Just a thought in case your battery is getting old. |

battery charge level is not always at the top, even with not so old batteries - highly depends on using the car
with age batteries lose their capability to hold the charge for long, but it is not case for you |
