None of my firearms are left unattended in my vehicle at any time. I’m even hesitant to leave one or several in my car to walk into a store for a soda and out in a min or two.

I believe a firearm should never be left unattended unless its in your safe in your home. However, I would make an exception for lockable reinforced storage like metal strongbox that is bolted into the floor underneath the back seat of a truck.

Maybe because I live in Canada, I "don't get it" but if the firearm is not on your person there is no reason it should be anywhere else other than in a safe.
I think a responsible firearm owner would agree. It should be in your possession/under your control, or locked in a safe. ESPECIALLY if you have kids in the house.

Many of my fellow gun owners will say, 'I told my kids...' yeah, we all know that all kids everything that their parents say all the time, and none of them have little a-hole friends that like to get into trouble.

For the 'what good is it if its in a safe?' crowd, I have a bedside gun vault, that is quick and easy to open in the dark, and a gun vault for the vehicle too

Mine is locked in my car as we speak because I am not allowed to bring it into work. The parking lot is secure. When I am home it usually stays in my car in my locked garage. Other than that it is on my person. I don't have kids so I just keep an AR and a full size M&P 9 on and next to the night stand.

Excuse my ignorance but does AR stand for Assault Rifle? You have one near your night stand?

I am in Canada so we can't really carry or keep handguns in our vehicles unless they are locked up and we are on our way to the range. However, i always have a few good knives and when i am heading out into the bush i will have a rifle, shotty, or other with me too.

Don't know if you're serious or joking. About having a 50, that is.

Do NOT fire it inside a room without serious hearing protection and or a suppressor.

The guys from Canada and the UK are gonna have a field day with suppressors.....

Alfisti - your thoughts on suppressors? I know you have some!

Me personally, I'd like to see them legal in Canada. Realistically, that is a pipe dream at the moment. Right now, I'm just hoping they don't confiscate my handgun, because Turdeau has it in his mind that handguns are the ones going out and shooting people, not gangs. Gangs are just helpless tools in the hands of a handgun in Turdeau's mind.

Suppressors should be legal everywhere you can legally shoot.

It's (Trudeau - and others) a mindset that is very dangerous to us south of you.

When a crazy guy goes somewhere in public and shoots someone, it's all about the gun.

When a cop has to use his gun, it's all about the cop.

Your sense of adventure defines giant so it really depends.

Mine stays in the car at work, on my person otherwise.

Just making an observation. You may be totally fine with your choices.

I have always shot 1911's in any/all of the competitions. At some time in my life, I decided I was tired of carrying all that weight (concealed carry) and went with a lighter plastic 9mm with higher capacity for concealed carry. Boy was it nice having a smaller, lighter gun on my hip.

Many years (decades) ago at one of our shooting events, I decided to try something. Let's shoot the carry gun instead of the 1911. Boy was that an eye opening experience.

I was shooting 3 or 4 hundred rounds a week, so it's not like I was inexperienced. And I was willing to accept the difference between a single action first round shot of the 1911 and the double action first round shot of the 9mm. But when it was time to put it all to use, there was a serious difference between the two. Mag release, slide release, safety and recoil all were different and my confidence in the firearm (in competition) suffered.

The 9mm went back into the safe, and I went back to carrying a 1911.

The guns you have may be so similar ( I don't know anything about either of them) that it's transparent to you. If that's the case, I've wasted my time typing this. If there is a difference between the two, you may want to pick a favorite and acquire a second for the other car.

You can thank me for a reason to purchase another firearm later :-).....
