Angry MATE - Most Annoying Thing Ever ....

Hey Guys!
I would bet if the Most Annoying Thing Ever in these forums is not the small noises one listens and tries to understand...
But I know some people get OCD to try to find these issues and, most probably, mine isn't unique:

So, everytime I accelarate, I hear a small cricket-rotating noise coming from inside the dash (looks like it is behind the steering wheel). I step the gas and it starts and when I remove the foot, it slowly goes away.
Plus;
After driving for some time (10/15 mins) I feel a smell like when you put clothes on top of a home heater (cozy, but worrying?).
So, IDK if some of you might have had same experience and I couldn't find nothing related in other Threads so, help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

If you turn up the radio, the noises go away. Guaranteed, amigo.

The smell is odd. Is it a sweet smell ? Acrid ? Can you tell where it's coming from ?

What year, model, and mileage do you have on your ride ?

Hi @marcoose;
The smell Is very similar to a warm heater at home. Like when you have your AC really hot.
My car is a E89 Z4 from 2012.
Currently with 103000 km.

noise and smell

Some road debris might be stuck somewhere on the exhaust system.
The noise may be the speedometer . It used to be common but now they are electronic but the speedo head could be mechanical.

OP, how long have you owned the Zed ?

Do you smell the smell with windows down, with the aircon off, with the fan off ? Does the smell go away after a while ?

I generally drive my Z4 with the top down and don't really notice little squeaky noises or smells of fresh laundry. Y'all must be driving the car with the top up?

Windows up, aircon off, I notice the smell after 10/15 minutes drive.
Then I stop and it goes away after a while.
Bought the zed recently.

Could it be leaking oil.
I would smell burning oil, it wasn't dripping on exhaust.
I changed the cam cover.
Smell gone now.

Also noises, spray all rubbers monthly to stop the glass rubbing on window frames. Often might just drop windows a few millimetres as the glass rubs hard on the roof sections.
Also the little plastic wedge on the rear panel taps the deck area.
Wrap one layer of black insulation tap on it.
I even have some felt on the horizontal part of the T shape.

Well, cause of smell identified (I think).
I had a surfboard under my car and saw that the cover was burnt/melted.
I assume the plastic got glued to the exhaust system and, when it heats, the smell appears.
Trying to find an elevator to look closely underneath the car.
The noise seems to be coming from the AC system but still couldn’t find it.
