And this is my favorite of theirs, incidentally.

This album reminds me of the stuff my nabes played when I was just a tyke, up in the Ridge. An extremely authentic sound.
"The In Spite Of Ourselves album is a collection of duets Prine did with female singers. This title track he sings with Iris DeMent. When Prine asked some of his favorite singers to appear on the album, he expected a lot of them to turn him down, but most said yes. Lucinda Williams, Trisha Yearwood, Connie Smith, Melba Montgomery, Emmylou Harris, Patty Loveless and Dolores Keane also appear." "[Verse 1: John Prine] "She don't like her eggs all runny She thinks crossin' her legs is funny She looks down her nose at money She gets it on like the Easter Bunny She's my baby, I'm her honey I'm never gonna let her go [Verse 2: Iris Dement] He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies He ain't too sharp, but he gets things done Drinks his beer like it's oxygen He's my baby and I'm his honey I'm never gonna let him go [Chorus: Both] In spite of ourselves, we'll end up a-sittin' on a rainbow Against all odds, honey, we're the big door prize We're gonna spite our noses right off of our faces There won't be nothin' but big old hearts dancin' in our eyes" Also: "In a town this size, there's no place to hide Everywhere you go you meet someone you know You can't steal a kiss in a place like this How the rumors do fly in a town this size In a town this size In a town this size" Last edited by Littlebear; 04-14-2021 at 04:58 PM.. |

A severely underrated Pearl Jam tune IMO. Of course their debut album had so many major hits on it songs like these are overlooked. To this day, "Ten" remains one of the best all time records ever. I don't even think any of their subsequent albums matched this one.

Dave Grohl and Mick Jagger did a song together. I was excited to hear about it but it fell flat on me. The two together should have been epic. Easy Sleazy about the pandemic. Will post link tomorrow.
