fuel mileage for 28i

hi all
I just got my 2014 28i auto and I would like to know if my 10.5 to 11.7 l/100kms (approx 22m/g?) is normal fuel consumption. it is a mixture of highway and city driving at mostly gentle, with a blast here and there. but not racing.

the specs for this car is 6.8 l/100kms combined driving. whilst I didn't expect to get that, I didn't expect it to be this poor. it's actually doing worse than my 2016 M4 ! same driving. actually much much harder in the M4. so just keen to know if this is normal. thanks

Seems like a lot to me, unless you do much, much more city than highway. I rarely venture into city but, with a bigger engine, I can't imagine getting more than 10l in mixed cycle. In fact only yesterday I drove 40 mins in heavy rain, 110-140 kmh, then other 30 mins in stop and go traffic and 15 more through the city and I got to 9.9l. On my daily 70 km drive I get about 8.6 to 9l. And that's a 35i.

yes. I agree. sounds high. I got the 28i partly due to the lower claimed consumption.

like I said. it's higher than my M4...
drive very well though. smooth. feels normal.

I have a 2012 28i. The US Spec for that year is 22MPG City, 32 Highway (10.6l City, 7.4l Hwy / 100KM)

When I first got it my daily commute was half stop/go, half highway (75 MPH). I averaged 24MPG (9.8l/100KM).

My current commute is more highway. I currently get 28.5MPG (8.25l/100KM)

The one long highway trip I took I did get north of 30MPG

This is with 10% ethanol fuel.

2016 Z4 28i: 33 MPG, every week for the past 16 months of ownership. 65% highway.

The key to good mileage is not using your brakes. 😉

so it looks like my car is possibly using a bit more then all of you. it has always been serviced correctly so not sure if there is anything that can be done.

very subjective of course as we all drive differently.

I can't help contrasting against my M4. same driver. same routes. 8.5 to 9.5 most days. push hard and it's 11.7 after the commute. but that's going a lot harder than my 28i. they have improved a lot over 2 to 3yrs
