25 miles today. Just shy of 3k on the year. The good news from today's ride is that apparently I am not allergic to bee stings. Little bastard slams into my right arm and stings me for good measure.

Hot and muggy today, so an easy Zone 2 ride. Now over 3k for the year.

How is the cycling coming, folks?

I got out 2 weeks ago for 20 miles on the local/normal path and last week for ~5 miles on the Atlantic Coast.

I will likely not get a ride in for a few weeks because of other stuff on the calendar. Hoping to get one more 40 mile ride in this season!

The heat index here has been hovering around 110F for over a week. Dew points are in the upper 70F range. Like rain forest humidity. So I've been riding inside and don't bother posting those rides here.

Agreed warm and humid here. Mornings especially when the dewpoint is nearly the same as ambient temperature it is uncomfortable. Another month and it will be prime cycling weather in the mid-afternoon.

Lunch ride in South East Texas right now in 95˚F and 80% humidity is not ideal, but better get it on the books than get rained out tomorrow. Photo is the mid point terminus where I turn around. Great trails for the land of Pears.

Tried to get a long one in today, so close to hitting 62 but I ran out of flat ground and I wanted to make sure I could get home.

Hoping I'll be ready for the Century next month. I'll probably do another long one on Labor Day weekend.

I've been doing 25 mile Zone 2 rides all week except for yesterday, when I did a 10 mile indoor ride. The rides have been easy and don't wipe me out, but they burn way fewer calories, so I need to keep an eye out for upward trends in my weight.

30 miles! It has been a while since I rode. I was focused on the open water swim, and we had some travel. This is my favorite time of year to ride - mid/late summer afternoon.

10.5mph speed
72rpm cadence
107-110 HR

I forgot to turn on the Wahoo sensors until 18 miles were done. It would be nice if they automatically sensed activity!

Moderate trail traffic. There is a 200 yard long road construction closure affecting the trail, which forces a 5 mile added detour. !!!!!!!!!!

3x25 miles outside this week (so far), but today was 4x4 intervals day on the trainer. Warm up for 10 minutes, then push 202 watts for 4 minutes, easy pedaling for 4 minutes, then repeat 3 times. Cool down for 5 minutes at the end. Gets my HR into Zone 4 for those 4 minute sections.

After three solid weekends of thunderstorms pounding us in the noon time I finally got back out on the trails. 19.48 miles logged in 1:29 min. Ave speed 13 mph.

I threw a big chain ring, rigid fork and road wheels on my old hardtail MTB. It's a great frankenstein "urban" bike for the cross town rail trail. The mods shaved off 7lbs from the original weight but it's still a heavy steel framed MTB in the end.

Been doing 17.25mi in 1hr13min almost daily this summer. Lots of roads to cross and sometimes lots of pedestrian traffic but it's a fun route.

What year/model MTB and where did you source the chainring? I want/don’t want a road bike. I love my old hard tail MTB but the gearing is lower than I want it to be.

Its a Civilian Young Turk - a niche brand from Portland, so hipster lol. Just an entry level hardtail from 2012.

For your chain ring, just check and measure for the right bolt pattern spacing. I think mine was 4 bolt 110mm or 104mm. The rest is just Allen screws.

The big (54 tooth) chain ring was too big for my frame so I bolted it to the outside of my stock chain ring, effectively making it a 2x10 without a front derailleur. If I'm doing long slow climbs I can manually switch to the small cog, which I never really do.

Amazon or your local bike store should have parts. I just did amazon as I am somewhat lazy when it comes to shopping.

30 miles, nice easy ride. 10.8mph, 72rpm cadence, 105HR.

Upper 60s at the start, low 70s at the finish, partly cloudy, some wind but not much. Trail traffic was moderate.

The trail detour wasn't as bad as I expected; Google Maps says it doesn't add distance which is nice. The detour is scheduled to be in place into October. Late October starts getting colder than I like to ride so uncertain if the detour will be removed this cycling season for me.

I'm dead, send help.

The Imperial Century is on the 28th, with how I feel after this one I'm a bit concerned. oof. I'm so glad it was like 90% overcast today, idk how it would have gone otherwise.
