Shirley not? There's something like a 10k difference in price. You must be hell of a negotiator

Actually, I pay $40/month less on my 2011 Z4 3.0 than my partner pays for his 2011 328 xDrive coupe. We both lease. I am negotiating a deal right now that is for a $57,500 2013 Z4 for under $500/month and about $3000 at signing.Try doing that with any 2013 3-series in Chicago (we have crazy taxes).

Well said I was fortunate to drive both and might just go back someday to this Z4 I do like the two color combination.

Did somebody also notice that the paddels in the LCI model now are the same than in the newer F-Models? I just noticed that in the catalogue the left paddle is for downshifts and the right one for upshifts. This is the same with the M135i and my F11. It seems they changed it for the Facelift, which was not the baddest idea I would say...

See I don't get why left and right doing only one thing is better. Might be perhaps if you're used to it. But I have the original paddles and the ability to up or down shift with left or right hands I find quite helpful.

I've got the push pulls on my 335i the new style just seems more naturally intuitive. I didn't mean to suggest it would be better for everyone, certainly better for me.

I had it on my old 330i with SMG for some years. It was ok, but as Dsldwg said, I found it more intuitive on my wifes F11. In the end it is personal preference...I personally like the new style more, especially because in stress situations on the track or similar, I sometimes happens that I mixed it up, so a fewer possibilities for errors with the new style.

So last week I joined the club.
Put my order in for my 2014 Z4 35is ED. Basically I bought the same car as the LCI press car. Valencia Orange with the contrasting black top. Now just waiting to hear back when we're going to Europe to pick it up. Can not wait! |

I downshift only with the left side, 11 year habit with e46m3, instead of pushing with my thumb I wedge my two middle fingers between the wheel and pull paddle to effect the push toward the dashboard. There's a strange word. Dashboard. I'll have to google that one.
Gotta be unique......sometimes weird, but unique. haha.

Strangely, 5 months after making the comment above, I am ordering a new 2014 Z4 35i. Do I still feel it's overpriced? Yes. Do I still think it has a bad suspension / chassis? Well, I think the 1 series is much better, and I bought a 135i sport in 2008 for 20k less than the Z4. Same engine, but different body and hardtop roof for 60% more money? Not a good value by any stretch.. Then why the heck am I buying the Z4? Because I wanted a new car to drive and track in europe with the N54 motor (I hate the N55), and they don't make the 1M anymore. All my previous BMWs have been very performance worthy (have only had either M cars or cars with the N54 motor) and I haven't been as interested in other BMWs that I've driven. Unfortunately, it's likely this will be my last BMW purchase now that BMW has gone a completely different direction with their products, engineering, pricing, and (lack of) performance value that they previously enjoyed. That being said, I sure hope to enjoy the experience of buying my last new BMW. I should note that I almost bought a Boxster S instead of the Z4, and I think it's a better drivers car, but I thought it was sluggish and not torquey enough compared to the BMW N54 motor. I also didn't like the Porsche PDK shifting as much as I like BMW's DCT. My last car was a 997 GT3 - I am more of a performance / track oriented driver. BMW *used to* make cars for me at decent prices, but they have stopped! It's sad to be a BMW fanatic with the models they are releasing these days and the recent misdirection of their M car lineup. Doesn't even look like he has a e89. Don't know why are you being so defensive over nothing. If you don't like the car (or brand) move on... I could say the same thing about your 135 |

I am moving on after the z4 for reasons I previously explained... is this not a discussion forum for consumers and enthusiasts to discuss the pros and cons of the products, to try to evaluate what makes them good and what else could make them better? My hope is that BMW reads this forum for feedback and starts taking a better direction than they have been recently. I guess I am the only one who thinks this on this thread, which is fine by me. |

I was referring to Alpine F31 about not having an e89 because you seemed to have attacked him.
Secondly, I agree a forum is a very productive place where one can discuss and share their opinions on a product (or BMWs in this case), and it's pros and cons like you mentioned. However, your earlier post doesn't seem to be contributing much if at all anything to this thread. "Do you not like my post because this is a z4 forum and I'm not a brainwashed Z4 fanatic who loves BMW no matter what BMW develops or what they charge their customers?" In regards to BMW reading the forums, unfortunately, I doubt they do and even if they do, not on such a low production Z class, if anything their upcoming F80 and the sorts. |
