$18,600 in discounts. Seriously. How do you walk away from that? So, in my garage it shall sit until the snow goes away. Sweet, sweet torture. Happy new year!

BMW verts cost
All convertibles in the BMW line cost more than their hardtop versions. Almost $6k more for a 1series, $8k more for 3series, $5k more for 6series, $8k more for M3s and M6 verts. The Z4 base model starts at $47k, so a hardtop model might start at $39k. Not overpriced at all. I've had 3series, M3, M5, 535 and 740, all fine touring cars but the Z4 is BMWs only sports car. When they offer it as a hardtop with twin turbo V8, carbon brakes and M suspension it will become their only exotic car offering. Now THAT will be facelift we'll all get excited about.

How the hell do you manage that?! Do tell! Were these BMW incentives or did the dealer take $16,700 off the MSRP and lose a ton of money? Was it a demo car or sitting on the lots for months?

OP is from Canada. Canadian cars already carry about anywhere from a $8K - $13K MSRP over same US models. I hope he got a big discount considering the current US to Canadian $$ exchange is 1:1.

Still a good deal if you can get the Z4 you want, off the lot, for that price. |

Not to mention, it was an IS, so probably MSRPing at 70k+ easy, making that $16,000 discount, albeit still a lot, less than it actually sounds (% wise compared to a 28 or 35)

I hope you didn't hurt any toes when you kicked those RFT's. Since you saved a nice bit of coin, invest it in trashing the RFT's and geting some real tires. Your chiropracter won't be so happy, but the car, your back, and your co-pilot will love you for it. I wish I had done it sooner - too thrifty. The difference is hard to imagine until you do it.

Does the Z4 35is have a HUD? If not, no digital speedo I presume? I love that about other BMWs because with the way I like to adjust the steering wheel -- low and pulled all the way out -- it obstructs the top of the regular speedometer.

No HUD. And no digital speedo unless you code the car.

Really? I don't own a Z4 (yet) but I was always under the impression that the monochrome screen between the two gauges had the speed displayed. Interesting, thanks for the info.

It does not have a digital speedo by default. But you can have someone with the appropriate data cable enable it with NCS Expert (aka coding).

Also, what kinds of other things can you code on it? There's a giant thread over on the F30 forum about what you can code with the F30 3 Series. Is it similar or the same in terms of what you can change and do with coding? |

Yesterday I ordered a Z4 Sdrive35is exactly in the configuration presented above in that thread. The car will replace my Space Grey M3 E92 (MT) in July.
I drove one yesterday and directly ordered it... I am really looking forward to get the car and be a part of the Z4 community. As you can see by clicking the signature picture below, before the M I owned a Alpina Roadster S, which is a Z4 E85 with an Alpina power plant. What I missed the most in that three years of having the M was really the opportunity to drive without a roof. I needed some time to realize that, but now I am back! |

I agree that for the sticker price the Z is expensive for what you are getting, but that's what negotiation is for
It is possible to get a Z4 35 for similar cost as a 335 coupe |
