I’m not going down without a fight. I’ll be 60 in December and my eye Dr writes a Rx for reading glasses every year which I never use. Occasionally for very small print I’ll borrow my wife’s readers but have no problem reading newspapers or books, just tiny print.

Without glasses I can see nothing clearly at any distance. My eye doc said because I was seriously farsighted that the focal point of my eyes is actually behind my head. (Eyes in the back of my head?) So nothing in front of my face will ever be in focus. Hence the need for trifocals, so I have at least 3 areas where I can focus. Near, middle, and far.

I have cataracts developing and she said I'll need surgery in the next few years. But right now my insurance won't spring for it, so I'm stuck waiting.

They can do a lot with cataract lenses these days. You'll probably see better than you ever did without glasses.

Is this the "You know you're old when" thread?

Not 60 yet but waaaayy past 40 and my vision is fantastic except for some fine print. It depends a lot on the colours involved. Black on white is ok but I really struggle with anything on a blue background. And I'd like to ask the idiot designer whatever made them think that white print on a light gray background was a good idea.

Ditto everything but the fantastic vision above, adding that I can't even see the markings/needles on the getting mightier Freightliner's instrument cluster on a sunny day because the whole thing is just a sea of black. At my last yearly eye exam a few months ago, the doctor said that my cataracts had reached the point of needing surgery...then he told me that I had to go to the regional trauma center for the surgery (and not in-office like most patients) because of the gadget in my chest.....

I know these aren't the coolest glasses BUT they are safety glasses, impact rated, AND 1.5-2.5 diopter. I buy these 3x at a time when I lose them because...look at the price.

Thanks. I'll have to check my prescription and see if these will work for me for working around the yard or whatever.

Oh wait, so these just have one lens that's corrective, right? The main lens is just normal and the smaller lens is the corrective one?

I had my cataract surgeries done at Pacific Eye Institute by a very well known doctor in my area. She is great. Your eye surgeon can make all the difference. I still see her every year.

And yes, this belongs in the "You know you're old when…" thread.

Bought second-row tickets and went to Cirque du Soleil's Kooza today in Denver.

Outstanding show-- Wife and I really, really enjoyed it. If it's in town and you're around-- highly recommended that you go.

I will be 53 later this month. My vision is for all intensive purposes, fantastic. Especially far.
the close up fine print difficulty reading happens to us all as we age. Especially beyond 45. Aging definitely presents many challenges.

Taylor Swift tickets at Mile-High yesterday, along with ~73,000 people.

Had seats in the first row off the floor, center of the stage assembly.

Tickets were going for $3200 p/p + fees, but I got them for about $300 p/p + fees due to the fact that my sister-in-law is one of the dancers (she's the one in green in the picture).

The show was **outstanding**-- highly recommended if you have the opportunity.

I think my wife, myself and another couple are going to go to Paris to see the show there (although Stockholm is an option as well)-- my SiL is going to do the World Tour with TS and she said she could get us tickets to any show in the world.

Sorry-- it was a one-off.

It turned out that we could have gotten eight tickets, but we didn't know that at the time. Once you purchased your tickets (we just got two), you're locked out of the website and all done-- you can't go back.

I had a fair number of buddies (and my wife's boss) sort of irked on that one, but

Additionally, my SIL had to put in the request at the beginning of the tour for what city/date you wanted tickets.
