Last Friday. Had a subcontractor on one of my projects ask me if I've seen a tick tick trend with blah blah blah. Runs over to show me his phone. It was people finding alternative things to use as a diving board. Some getting facked up in the process.
I told him I never watched tick tick. He was shocked. I told him I was too old.. He puffs out his chest and says…I'm 46, I drop the 50 He's like  We look at the tick tick more, and realized I became my parents with the TV watching. "TV makes you stupid, go outside!" Now older people are glued to a phone while driving watching other people who are not actors do stupid things.. then try it themselves and post it… I can't cope. |

A friend asked my DW to go along with her this morning to look at a house that she was interested in renting. The rent was 33% of the going local rate, included all utilities, and pets were welcome. INSTANT red flag for anyone with common sense.
No surprise, the open house that was allegedly taking place was not happening, there was a real estate agent's for-sale sign on the lawn, and a real estate key lockbox hanging on the front door knob indicating that it was likely a vacant property. What real estate agent holds an open house on a weekday...or at all for that matter these days? Red flag #2, and I don't even work in real estate. I just looked on Zillow, and the house was listed for a sale price that was high enough where the rent that was being advertised wouldn't pay a mortgage even if someone put 75% down. Common sense confirmed, red flag #3. My DW asked her where she found this listing? Fleecebook Marketplace! Obviously, some enterprising Nigerian chap saw the Zillow listing and was trying to use the hot real estate market and out-of-control local rent situation to scam people out of rent/security on a property...sight unseen...before someone else snapped up the under-priced rental......

On a positive note, our 11 year-old OCD psycho weather dog indirectly came into our lives as a result of PuppyScam, er, I mean PuppyFinder.com. A friend was looking for a Westie puppy, to replace his elderly dog that had just moved on. EVERY puppy that he inquired about on that site turned out to be located in Africa, where the "owner" had to travel for emergency missionary work...bringing a 6-8 week old puppy that you had to send $$$ to ship back home. My DW went onto eBay's Marketplace, and found them a legitimate puppy with cash payment in person after meeting the puppy. Long story short, a second puppy from that litter followed my DW home a day later, and he visits his sister frequently. Christmas Eve on the beach at Jekyll Island a few years ago.....  .
