What kind of tripods would you guys recommend/have? I'm looking at getting a Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging 190XDB 3-Section Tripod w/ 390RC2 Pan/Tilt Head...thoughts?

I have the 190XB with 486RC2 ball head
get a ball head...and get one that holds some weight if you ever plan on using some bigger lenses/bodies...youll thank yourself the only comments I have about this tripod is that its a beast, good for stability bc of its weight, but if you plan on bringing it, its a bit heavy...so make sure you want to use it when you bring it out or youll curse it.

You'll never go wrong with a carbon fiber Gitzo. Either a 2-series as a do everything or a 1-series for hiking and a 3-series for heavy lifting. Personally I went with option 2 and have an 1128 for general use and a 1325 for the big guns. Lots of these are on the used market and will save you a bundle vs. new...

If you're willing to go $200, I got my carbon fiber tripod complete with a pan-head at my local Best Buy. Of course there's tax, but it's still a great price for a great set of CF legs. The pan-head is a little difficult to use, but use it until you get the funds for a good ball-head. Great tripod for the traveler.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1173577949568 It's called the Velbon ElCarmagne 530. It goes for $270+ on other sites like Adorama and Amazon. Weird, for the first time I found a bargain at my local retailer! |

probably....wont move much in price since the 7D is slotting above it..canon seems to like to move prices up instead of down.
