Sure, that would be good. If I go this route, I would need a new panel with AUX and USB anyways.

Thanks for the picture. I'm not sure I understand why drilling there would release the panel?

I was able to squeeze the locking SS metallic to the right, to pull the left part out of the console socket...

I don't recommend it. Even after a ton of back and forth with their engineering and trying a bunch of beta firmwares, it still did not work reliably right up til when I traded the car in in 2014.
