Playoff experience doesn't matter when you're that talented. It doesn't.

They were in the top three this past season... sssoo you're saying they are going to be worse next season?!

Not my favorite team, just an observation. Saw a lot of promise from the Leafs the past two seasons and Babcock is just settling in.

We shall see!

TML was tied for 3rd in East wish WSH and 7th best in the entire league.

Tavares DEFINITELY helps them improve. Time will tell how much.

To each their own. I'd rather Taraves and Matthews over the aging Crosby and Malkin. Not to mention we've got a perennial 30 goal scorer, shutdown guy in Kadri playing C on our third line. Who do you guys have again...Matt Cullen?

Leafs won't go further than the ECF with their current crop of D men. Tavares is an excellent addition, but our main weaknesses is defense.

Thought I saw that Tavares turned down 7 years @ $13M from the Sharks to go to Toronto. Crazy money!

The best news from Sunday/Monday? Flyers will no longer have anchors like Brandon Manning and Valteri Filppula taking up roster spots! Now we can have some actual prospects come up and get some playing experience! Addition by subtraction!

On a side note, I'll miss JVR. He's a serious defensive liability, and he doesn't bring much else aside from his goal scoring and net presence, but he's one of, if not the best at his specialty (finishing within 5 feet of the net) and it won't be easy replacing him and the 36 goals he scored for us last season.

Maybe we'll draft another Luke Schenn and see if you guys are willing to swap again in a few years..?

All I can say is....Leafs will be winning multiple cups in those 7 years that Tavares signed if they can clean up the defense while keeping Auston, Mitch, Marner, Kapanen and Johnson. I only fear Nylander might get traded

I sincerely hope you're right about the multiple Cups part. I do worry that Nylander will get traded for a young, top 4 defenseman, but the current rumors of him going to Vancouver for Tanev straight up are ridiculous. With our current roster, I wouldn't mind trading away a few draft picks and recently-drafted prospects in order to keep all of them together...but sooner or later finances will become the bigger problem.

Na. We're all good on defensemen for quite a long time. All home grown. Which is weird to say for the Flyers, I'll admit that.
That old regime that traded JVR for Fat Schenn is long gone. Thank god.

I'm penciling JVR in on Patrick's wing. Maybe with Voracek. That's a nice looking line on paper.

Agreed. Provorov and Ghost are both studs. They should be good for quite some time.

Your PP1 will be scary with Giroux, Voracek, JVR and those two manning the point. I think by far your biggest need would be some decent goaltending

Then there's Sanheim, Myers, Friedman & maybe even the new kid St. Ivany in the pipeline still.

I don't know where JVR fits on the PP. Simmonds is still around but by the end of the season, Patrick replaced him as one of the netfront guys with Couterier.
Provy isnt on PP1. Only Ghost. They go 4 forwards and 1 Defense on PP1. PP2 is basically only on the ice to let PP1 rest. But PP2 honestly should be decent with Lindblom, TK, Patrick, Provy and maybe JVR? Time will tell what happens there

Yup, Carter Hart is a beauty...he can't come soon enough for you guys.

Whoever your net front presence is on PP1 might have to shift down, because as I said, JVR is probably tops in the league in that regard. He wasn't worth $7 to us playing only 14.5 minutes per night, but if you guys get him out there more, regardless of which PP unit he's on, he should be able to justify his salary no problem.

We've got some D in the pipeline too, but their development will need to be heavily expedited now that Tavares is here. Either that, or we'll have to source a couple of seasoned d-men through trade or free agency.

Good point, maybe JVR bumps Coots off PP1 and takes his spot. Hopefully Simmer is back to his old form cause JVR and Simmer in front of the net on a PP is really fun to think about.

There's still some decent defensemen out there. Or just go for broke and get EK65! Gotta have some guys on the Marlies you can move for him.
