If the roof is down - you can do a quick single press then second press and hold of the boot release - and the roof half closes so that you can put larger itesm in the boot (trunk) by opening the safety flap cover thing.
You then replace the flap and then press and hold the arrow key again to open the roof fully.

Hope this helps.

Are you sure it doesn't come with a cup holder?? Many people have overlooked it in the glove box where it has it's own storage bracket. I'm also curious about your 2012 model. I've searched high and low and cannot find any supporting evidence that they have started rolling the 2012 Z's. When did production start?

Hi bro yes I’m sure i have searched everywhere inside the car but i didn’t find it also i ask our dealer & he told me it dose not come with it so i had to order one but when it arrived i got shocked since the Side hole close to the passenger seat to fix the cup was not there!!!!
Anyhow i spoke to our dealer & they say they can fix it don’t know how
& regarding the model if you mean the side plate inside the car it say
11/03/2011 but all the custom paper & the registration Document
Got registered 2012 since the custom paper come from the manufacture

==============

This is the cup that i got from the dealer

& the other pic show that there should be a hole to fix it wich i dont have in my car

Well i guess you're right about the cup holder.. i can't believe that they are not to continuing to make this standard. I rarely use mine but still...

As for your registration I don't know what to tell you but if the car was manufactured in March i'm fairly certain you're driving a MY2011. Someone else can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong...

last few of your VIN will work. Maybe you have the ONLY 2012 in existence.

Wow I'm so glad I have a 2011 with the 3rd cupholder. I use it all the time. I find the two under the armrest to be quite inconvenient.

Yeah, I'd be lost without the side mount cup holder. It does coffee duty every morning.

The two cup holders under the armrest are useless to the point of comedy. I can't imagine a scenario where they would ever work.

Actually it is the tenth digit that designate the official model year, so we only need that to see what BMW factory thinks

That is a lower number than my 2011 Z4, but what is the letter just before the 'E', B or C?

This is interesting.. so if it is a 2011 (as it appears) and we all got cup holders with our '11's... then somebody owes you Eihab. Or perhaps it's not a standard option outside the US. We do love our badly over priced/ burnt coffee here in the states.

Garage List
I recall reading that the 3rd cupholder is for US vehicles only.
Apparently only us overweight Americans need a place to stash that slushie from 7-11

Anyone who brings a slushie into a Z4:
  • Should be banned from driving said Z4;
  • Should have their Man Card revoked;
  • Consequently should be limited to driving minivans only.

Only clear, sugar-free drinks that clean the car rather than soil it (i.e. H2O or Vodka) are allowed in my car. I mostly use the cupholder to hold my BlackBerry.

LOL

I can confirm that AUstralian delivered cars (RH drive) do not get a third cupholder.

For that I am eternally thankful.

ANY food or drink in a car with white leather is a BAD idea.

PS Oh, thanks for the tip on the VIN. I will have to check mine tonight. As my Z4 was one of the first 35is to hit Australia I always wondered if it was a MY10 or MY11 (even though it was delivered in July 2010)

Btw regarding the year model i think there is a difference between the Countries
In UAE it’s all based on I the Custom Paper which come with the car also take in to account the shipment from Europe to ME it take almost 50 Day so the day which mission in at the plate inside the car explain the day Which the car gets out from the manufacture.. thats why my car got registerd as 2012
