Cruise control retrofitted
Update: brought my 2010 e89 23i in for to retrofit cruise control. They had a littlr hickup with thr software (they had to reboot the software basically and install thr various modules one by one instead of an automatic update of all in one go). A part from that all went well and works flawless.

DON'T just search for one that is labelled as e89 as sellers seem to increase the price of these just because it's a Z4. Instead put in your search e90 as this should bring up the exact same stalk as for the e81, 82, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92 and 93. These are all the same fitment with the only other item to watch out for is the "A" symbol on the wiper stalk if you have auto wipers, if not then you just have the windscreen with the 3 dashers underneath symbol (if you have trouble here you CAN buy any stalk assembly but then have the wrong symbol and no LED) Hope that helps. EDIT - Attached photos showing the Standard cruise Stalks (Right side stalk with the 3 dashes) and the Auto Wiper stalks (Right stalk with the "A" on it and an LED) You CAN actually run auto wipers with a standard stalk if that is all that you can find.

Thanks Mike. Install's gone well so far, just one part that i'm a little confused with. Am I copying all the new profiles into the pfl folder? There appears to be 3 expertmodus versions.

Thanks, that confirms the software is working. Took me a while to workout why the .OCX component failed - even though im on a 32bit OS, all good now. It's just the new profiles left for me to work out. A bit of trail and error might be in order. the downloaded profile named 'expertmodus (offen) shows up in NCS Expert as 'FSWPSW Manipulate' - which sort of matches Mike's guide. |

New version of Part 2 added to post 20 of this thread (new link, old link now deleted)
This new version includes photos of the Tool32 process and a new replacement section for the final coding stage. You now only need to do the final coding to the ZDSC module and not the whole car, this should rectify the problems that some of you have had especially those that have a MULF fitted. And on another point I've now filmed the whole process from fitting the stalks right through to the full coding stages. This should be available before the end of the weekend on my YouTube channel of which I'll link here.

to check these push/pull the handle all the way back or forward to increment in 10s, you could feel breaking when you set the control -20/30

Thanks so much Dave!
I have done the retrofit to my 2010 E89 23i following your guide and it works like a charm! Perfectly comprehensive instructions. In fact, installation took less time than expected and not much longer than watching your video :-)). Best regards, Jörg. |

P.S. Tip: My version of Windows hides the USB Serial Port in Device Manager so need to select "Show hidden devices" from View menu. |
