In Europe things work differently. We basically have only P1 options (though we don't call them like that) and every dealer will be more than happy to give you the full catalog (as they have quite a high margin on the options far higher than on the base car). There are some "after market" options which a dealer can install but they are very restricted and are hardly mentioned at the time when you configure your car. I guess this is different due to the proximity of our countries to the factory (and our patience when ordering cars). I guess that differentiating between P1 and other options for the US market gives dealers the possibility to order base cars and fit them with further options by the time a customer shows interest in the car reducing the delivery time as opposed to order a built-to-order car from the factory. Here in Europe basically every car is built-to-order and you can even change your order up to about two weeks before the construction date (I have changed my order for a 23i twice in the meantime - adding more options of course) |
