The concept of Roadsterbag, is driving with the maximum luggage while roof top open. If you drive a convertible or roadster it does not make sense to drive with roof top closed in holidays...Roadster and convertibles have to be driven with roof-top open Every suitcase set of Roadsterbag is custom made and just fits for one Roadster or Convertible. The suitcases even use the chamfer of the trunks. Due to a metal-pvc-bondframe the suitcases are extremly light but nonetheless inherently stable. @ Riccis Perhaps you can tell the other members something more about our luggage, regarding quality and fit?

I would recommend someone from the east coast of the USA. This causes less shipping costs from europe, than shipping them to the west coast. If we found someone who wants to organize the group buy and shipping from the USA, we can calculate the shipping costs from europe to the USA. I do not know how exactly the forum is organized, but perhaps the 3 series e93 and Z4 e85 drivers are also interested? The more Members order a set the less will be the shipping per person, because the price for the container would not change Furthermore I would recommend setting a dead line for the group buy... René

I can confirm that the luggage fits exactly as shown in the pics on the website and that with the luggage in place I can pull down and lock into place the top-down cover thingy. Haven't dropped the top (waaaay to cold at the moment) but can't see any reason why it shouldn't work. Will try and confirm ASAP all the same. As soon as I can I will measure the cases and post back. And yes....the 2x large suite cases do indeed 'taper'. They are not perfectly rectangular but this is deliberate. Have to add that I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality too. Seems great for the price.....probably just as good as the mainstream manufacturer such as Samsonite etc. The 2x main cases are fairly stiff with roller-wheels and handles that slide up and down (much like normal suitecases these days) and they came in their own soft bag which I think is really used just for transport but shows care on the manufacturer/suppliers part. Also got 2x small pad locks with keys. The smaller flat case was inside one of the larger main suitcases (just in case someone else orders, opens the box and wonders where the 3rd small case is). The cases are not as stylish as the car IMHO (I'm struggeling to find something negative to write about the cases and this is the only thing I could come up with!) but a great product for what I believe is a great price too. I would have loved (subject to price) the same set in perhaps leather that matches (colour wise at least) the car's interior. The leather option might be a problem if the cases were to be boarded onto planes (they'd get ruined in no time) but for those that would use them exclusively in the car, I think leather would work. Only disappointment......didn't get the 10% discount offered to the US bulk buyers Jokes apart......I can highly recommend the cases. Last edited by riccis; 12-15-2009 at 11:39 AM.. |

It seems like a number of people have expressed interest in this luggage set depending on the shipping costs.
Let's try to come up with an estimate of what the shipping might be. Perhaps the vendor can supply us with a quote for the shipping based on 10 sets of luggage to an address in the US northeast. I live in Ithaca NY: not the most convenient spot for easy access to major highways, but I would volunteer to serve as a "warehouse" to receive the shipment and arrange for pick-up by UPS (for example) to get the individual sets to the specific buyers. Of course, that would entail some remaining domestic shipping costs. We'd need the weight and package dimensions to estimate the domestic ground shipping charges. If it turns out that there's a significant break in the trans-Atlantic shipping if we place an order of a specific size thanks to the volume it will use in a container, perhaps we can also ask the vendor to tell us how many sets we'll need to order to reach that break point. Armed with these shipping costs, I think we'll all be in a better position to decide if we should go ahead with the purchase.

I would be interested in a set as well. I live in NJ.
I saw dszpiro's message regarding the Z4 luggage- if we get shipping cost info I would also be willing to serve as a delivery point- my address in NJ (about 1/2 hour from Newark or Bayonne) would probably be cheaper than Ithaca for the initial delivery of 10-20 sets. Lets' see what René comes back with. I'm wondering if the sets come boxed so just have to show up at UPS or FedEx and forward on to the others. That would be doable. Having to take delivery of loose sets that needed to be boxed up would be a pain. I have a paypal account other buyers could pay into. Amount of luggage set could be forwarded to me before order. Actual shipping charge calculated and payable when they arrive for forwarding. I wouldn't be interested in fronting any costs, however. |

Could be useful for long trips where people could put over-night clothing and toiletries etc. Would save having to take in a large suitcase. |

I'd be happy to collect the information I describe and share it with everyone in this thread.
Hopefully René from CarSuitCases.com will continue reading this thread, but I'll send a PM directly to him with the questions I outlined. Thanks, Danny

I've not been in these group buys before, but it strikes me that whoever does step up to put their arms around this might do well to open a small escrow account somewhere so those of us sending money to a complete stranger have some back up. Or maybe a PayPal account.
Not trying to make it hard, just trying to make it less 'risky.' P.s., I ain't the guy to do this. The Rubber Ducky does not like other people's money unless he can keep it... |

The selling price is 148,00 € incl. 19% VAT (german tax)
We ship net to the USA… Net-Price: 124,37 € net excl. 19% VAT We will grant you a discount of 10 % Z4Post-member-price: 111,93 € Converting to US$ at today's rate, 112 euros is about $175. Surely shipping of 10 sets would not run much more than $50 per set. This would make each set run about $225. Does this sound reasonable?
