Cobb Accessport for N54
I had 2011 Z4 35is for 2 years and used accessport. What a blast it was
I have now moved to 2013 550i (couple days ago) and I have no need for Cobb anymore. It's ready to find new N54 engine If someone is interested I will part it for $500. It has version 4.01 maps loaded. |

I've got the ESS and whilst it works well, I am EXTREMELY disappointed that they have NOT released an update to the 35is map since it's initial release a few years ago. Surely they must be some sort of optimization done??

one of the main reasons why i decided on COBB, is their service level and up to date maps. Not to mention 100% reversible and not vin-locked...that was a deal breaker.

Why update something if it 's working fine really?
ESS was the reason I dumped the procede, endless updates and all the time something was missing, plus ess was r&d'ed on a 35i dct. I 'm happy I don't ''need'' any updates to be honest. |

Exactly whats Jannisa said! ESS goes for stability and engine longevity. Pushing the envelope only gets you with something broken in the long term. Don't get me wrong, the cobb V3 is absolutely awesome in every aspect and worth every penny hardware wise and with a protune you can squeeze out alot of extra HP compared to the ESS maps... But i dont really think its worth the worries... And this is coming from someone who owns the COBB v3.

I have ESS for couple of months now. In general, pretty happy with it. Installation is easy but you need to take a backup of the OEM software every time car comes back from the dealer. I learned that the hard way...
ESS stage 2 is supposed to give you 360hp (for some reason I had 390hp in my mind ) and 355 ftlbs torque, which are impressive assuming they are being conservative to protect the car in the long run. The fact that ESS is going to be a very expensive paperweight when I sell my car was a major concern but had to deal with it. They also have a very responsive customer service, which is very important for me. I have not tried COBB but I have also seen Active Autowerke's 1M tune applied to 35i which was quite impressive. The car also sounded better... |

i have the cobb AP with a z4 35i DCT and it's a little strange in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear.
from 4th gear on it's fine and pulls like a freight train. the torque is amazing - of course! Unfortunately with the Cobb - I had to go from the most aggressive (20 psi) map to the middle (15 psi) map because it was causing strange behaviour in the DCT in terms of downshifting and unsmooth power delivery. |

It could be that the electronics are braking wheels or limiting torque to minimize wheelspin. If you drive the same way with DSC OFF you may find you are just getting tons of wheelspin |

The turbos make lots more noise than stock, more whistling (in high boost mode), and simply don't spool up and put the power down well through the DCT in the high boost mode. |
