need some advice here-
I got a great quote from Geico... i am in FL btw. I skimmed thru the policy and saw the only thing it was missing was uninsured motorist coverage. That is a bit confusing tho... this seems to only be for medical payments etc... it has nothing to do with your car. I seperately have good health insurance and it looks like this policy has seperate PIP... so I am confused as to what this uninsured coverage would actually provide?

I’d get it. It doesn’t add much cost to the policy. I have it on my Geico policy. With how expensive things are these days, I’m sure there are a bunch of people that are uninsured.

this if an uninsured motorist hits me and somehow i end up in a hospital this pays my bills? this is totally seperate from the car... i think insurance purposely makes this confusing... how does personal health insurance and the seperate PIP even work then lol?

i actually had a lap over w health insurance once where my new coverage started a few days before the old one ended... you would think this would provide some sort of double coverage... Wrong! Neither party wanted to pay when I needed to see a doctor because both refused responsibility... fk all these companies.

WTF is the difference between Drductible Limit and Out Of Pocket limit??? Apparently I need to spend 12k combined before medical coverage pays

Deductible - how much you need to spend before your insurance coverage kicks in and covers whatever % it's supposed to OOP Limit - the most you will pay out of pocked during that year NO matter how much medical cost you have You want to hear something f'd up? I had an insurance company at one point that sent all costs to the OOP limit as opposed to the deductible so in theory I was never going to meet my deductible before their coverage kicks in and I would need to satisfy the much higher OOP limit first lol.

It does feel like the up and coming generations will not tolerate how corporations and capitalism have such a stronghold on our lives. The gig will be up for some large companies, and even whole industries, once the younger folks simply stop refusing to support them. Very much a gut feeling but looking forward to some disruption in the future.

My insurance went up $75 a month for no reason. I've had State Farm since I started driving in 2003 but considering making a change and exploring options. The one thing I do like is having a local rep

Just got my renewal today, up 33% from about $150 a month to $200 now. No explanation, nothing has changed neither car related or credit score or anything. Gotta call the agent.

My last annual renewal and coverage with max coverage and max deductible:
I was paying more than this from the same company in San Francisco in 1995. That was for a 1987 Nissan Sentra. Same general situation: high credit score, no claims, no accidents, no tickets of any kind, etc., etc. The zip codes, though...very different. San Francisco was then and is now a very high risk environment for insurance companies. While our SF neighborhood was pretty quiet, it was still in SF. The zip code we're in now is so low-key that it's ridiculous compared to any zip code in SF.

something people really need to think about coming from someone who runs a body shop, you can save a few bucks here and there with premiums with a budget insurance company but when you go to have the car repaired you're gonna get shit parts when the adjuster prepares the estimate. Also double check your coverage after you call an agent and ask about saving money because they will cut things out of your coverage that you should have, every market is different with insurance companies but the ones you think are solid companies are now the worst.
usaa, allstate, nationwide and liberty mutual are some of the absolute worst companies to deal with post pandemic |

After digging into it I found a combination of small increases in coverage packages, increased claims in my zip code and risk assessments against the BMW led to the increase. In other words, "f*ck you, pay me"

Reading this thread makes me glad I live in California. Insurance is so tightly regulated here, they're not even allowed to raise rates without approval from the state. Gender, age, and credit score are not allowed as rating factors. Only thing that needs work is the sheer amount of lawsuit abuse going on. Lots of 100,000 USD payouts for bumper taps
