+1 DrStig. My other 2 vehicles are built this way (yellow reflector built-in to the headlight housing). Makes more sense that way & as you said, more visible.

The goal was if you approach the car from the side and can't see the headlights [as in pulling out of an alley], the yellow front side reflector tells you which way the car is pointed, and likely to move. Part of the same mentality which put the additional red reflectors in the rear bumper as the EU has a minimum square area requirement for passive reflectors. Still don't understand though why the rear bumpers are all the same, but they produce different from bumpers with and without the front side markers for the different markets..
