RFT changed to Standard Tire on 19" Wheel
Have you replaced your RFT with Standard Tires on the 19 Inch Wheels?
If so can you share with us... A) Type of Tire you now have B) How many miles / KM have you driven on the new tires and C) How would you rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 compared to the RFT Thanks for sharing, Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

Great question, hope there are some answers. I just do not like the RFT's, have a 35is with 19 in wheels and would love to get thoughts on any issues there might be if I change out (aside from having to get a mobility kit)

I will probably change too but not very many good options for the 19" wheels. On Tirerack, only about 5 sets that are non-RFT fit the 19s - that stinks. I really wanted a set of the new Michelin PS3s but they do not make a pair that fit the rear wheels; what to do?

The speedo is out of whack anyway on stock 19's. Mine is out 4.5 kmh. But I did look int the Goodyear Asymmetrical F1's (I think that's what I saw on tire-rack)

I did a quick look at Tire Rack for some basic data.
Bridgestone RE050A RFT 255-30-19 Weight 26lbs/ea Height not listed, revolutions per mile 827. PS2 265-30-19 Weight 24lbs/ea, Height 25.3", revs per mile 822 PS2 275-30-19 Weight 25lbs/ea, Height 25.6", revs per mile 814 Keep in mind if you go with a wider tire in the same 30 aspect ratio your sidewall will actually be slightly taller. Might be enough to save your wheel in the event of hitting something. Personally I think the 19" stock wheels with RFT tires are destined to fail. They are a low cast cast wheel with a very low profile tire that has the stiffest possible sidewall. Upgrade to forged wheels for the added strength and ditch the RFT's. |

So what do you think would be the best way to go regarding tire size front and rear with the 19s on the 35is? For example, 275/30-19 on back, what on front? 245/35-19? Thanks for your input.

I will likely do either a 235/265 combo or 235/275. I don't really see a need for fronts wider than 235.

We need more feedback here ... have any of you changed? and how do you find the ride?
does changing to non-run-flat tires affect the pressure monitoring system at all?

My tires are ordered but on back order. Changing tires will not affect the pressure monitoring system. I am going with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS.

9 times out of 10 people will say it's worlds better and the one schmuck that says otherwise is because he/she doesn't know how to drive or what a car is supposed to feel like.
Your TPM should not be affected. main difference is better ride quality and less noise.

My dealer removed the BS RFTs at delivery and installed a set of Yokohama ENVigor tires on my OEM 18" wheels. OEM TPM sensors stayed on the wheels. Absolutely no problems in 3000 miles.
Did the same thing on my 07 and 09 E93 verts with no problems. Bottom line: if anyone says you can't run non-RFTs on the OEM wheels with the OEM sensors is full of you know what.
