Just for the fun of it, I put the German text from the linked page into Yahoo Babel Fish and here's the translation:
With this 3tlg. You can go to luggage set with maximum luggage and open roof on route. These suit-cases fit centimeter-exactly into that Z4-Kofferraum, also with opened roof. By a metal art off compound framework the suit-cases are particularly easy and nevertheless very form stable, so that your clothes do not knittert. Coloured the luggage set is co-ordinated with the Z4 trunk in the best way. High-quality materials and processing, document bag, lockable cover with 2-Wege-Reißverschluss, address sight, retaining straps inside and a flat power pack, likewise with zipper, unite a beautiful optics with practical handling. The two large suit-cases are also fully concealable grasp, silicone-absorbed, castors running in ball bearings and Inside Trolley technology equipped! This luggage set is not comparable with normal travel suit-cases! Luggage set volume of 116 litres 3teiliges set. It looks like it is indeed designed to fit in the trunk with the top down. The US site linked from the German site seems to list the E85 luggage set only ($260 for the three pieces). I just wrote to them to find out if they have the E89 version available and, if so, the price. I'll post a follow-up to this thread if I hear back. BTW, if you're like me, you really hate it when your clothes get knittert-ed.

They look great. However what would be even better would be a set that contained extras that are useful when you DO have the roof up as well. Either separate pieces or some form of extension to the originals, for instance the ability to raise the height to the full boot space - like with some suitcase extensions, that would be really clever design...

The current price for the E89 set is Euro 148.00, which today equals $217. They are specific for the E89. These guys got pretty good write ups on the German "Z" forum for their E85 set. If there is a large [not sure what large means at this point] group buy then shipping should not be much, maybe would add about $100 to the East Coast, and some equally friendly Z forum member could expedite shipping them around from there. If there is sufficient interest I will price a container to the East Coast and we can take it from there.
At their Web Site click on "BMW", then click on "Roadsterbag" and finally click on "BMW Z4 (E89, ab 2009)" or just scroll down. If you click on the British flag on page back you will get their general write up, but nothing specific in English. Last edited by ChuckB; 12-09-2009 at 03:47 PM.. Reason: web page navigation hints |

Roadsterbag carsuitcases
Dear Z4Post Members,
we found your discussion concerning our Roadsterbag luggage sets... Our company AeroStylez is located in germany Cologne. We are a distributor of the original Roadsterbag luggage. Our website is www.carsuitcases.com. We are able to ship to the USA, but I would recommend organizing a group buy, because shipping from Europe to the USA is realy expensive. We already have many clients in the USA, like the Chrysler Crossfire Forum and the BMW Z8 forum… Shipping one parcel costs about 120 € net… If we organize a group buy with more than 20 sets, this would be less expensive. Perhaps some of the BMW Z4 Roadster e85 or Z4 Coupe e86 drivers are also interested in our luggage?!? If so, the shipping costs will reduce with each set… The selling price is 148,00 € incl. 19% VAT (german tax) We ship net to the USA… Net-Price: 124,37 € net excl. 19% VAT We will grant you a discount of 10 % Z4Post-member-price: 111,93 € Furthermore we need one contact person of your forum, who will organize the group buy. For calculating the exact shipping costs of one container, we need the address to where we should ship. The best would be someone living at the east cost of the USA. best regards from germany René Last edited by AeroStylez; 12-14-2009 at 11:49 AM.. |

Count me in (assuming shipping works out to be reasonable).

I am interested in a group buy if the delivered price is reasonable. Please keep me in mind. Just to confirm you can get all 3 pieces in the trunk with the top down? Are the large cases within the limits to check on most major airlines? What are the actual dimensions?

I have to wonder if the dimensions are similar to this bag (http://www.ebags.com/ebags/mother_lo...modelid=125549.
One difference that I pick up from the customized luggage photos is that they appear to taper in depth towards the top which would allow for the roof cover to close over the luggage. The height of the bag appears to be around 25"-28" based on the photo showing it alongside the hood of the Z4. These cubes may be an option as well. http://www.ebags.com/ebags/slim_pack...modelid=107842 Just throwing some thoughts out.
