Feel free to ask questions that’s what these forums are 👌
The handling will deteriorate and at some point either a lack of comfort or the wayward handling will force the owner to call time… In the UK more likely is that the annual vehicle integrity check will spot the leaking fluid and cause the car to be grounded pending replacements.. Even in this country the time between first ‘light misting’ and a failure may be 2 or 3 years depending on annual mileage… In the Uk so many 35is are garage queens and only potter around at low speeds and do very limited annual mileages so it’s a very common problem now when buying one…don’t ask me how I know 🙈👀😂

Lots of good info in this thread. I've started thinking about the E89 after seeing a fellow club member's car with some quality mods. I know its a GT not a sportscar. What are the LCI factors to consider, and when did that start - 2012 year? TIA.

The main differences were Revised headlights with LED Angel eyes as opposed to H8 halogen bulbs Side repeater indicator on front wing went from a Perspex ‘blob’ to a more elegant chromed ‘tear’ Internal plastic trim around heater controls went from matt plastic to a very glossy black For Europe a ‘budget buster’ cheap 18i version Associated with this were some bundling of options changes .. Actually most changes to the E89 were brought in bit by bit over the years so there were quite a few changes from 2011 to 2012…as I found out with first a 2012 20i then a 2011 35is.. IMHO not that much to shout about..I’m sure BMW’s marketing guys said otherwise..

I think you should look into the site "BIMRS.com" The site is made up of a network of shops around the Country that specialize on BMWs. The shops have to have trained techs, approved tools, and ethical business models. Bimrs shops know your BMW, and can give you all the information you'll need to replace the shocks on your Z4, and even offer options. They also will do a pre, and post purchase inspections.

What is this magic, NE friend? I've not heard of this before. Have you had better experiences with these folks than a dealership? We're close enough that I would greatly appreciate a referral for your recommended service provider, if I may be so bold as to ask.
It just so happens that my front suspension is leaking like Slimer from the ghostbusters. Quote:

It’s BIMRS.ORG I believe…?
For E89s an Indy as we call them in the UK will probably be a good call..on things like N54 engines which are widely used they probably are better than a main dealer.. On relatively unique chassis issues like E89 adaptive dampers or the roof I think they’ll struggle along with most folks..FWIW

BIMRS.org is pretty well known and advertise in many enthusiast pubs. I wouldn't say they are better than a strong relationship with a good local shop, but lots better than just guessing: https://www.bimrs.org/
