The car came with a nice leather wheel. Why would you wrap it? Is it worn that bad?

A few over here in the UK have either done their own or had them done professionally (quite a few have used a company called Royal Steering Wheels). I've got my new wrap for mine but haven't got around to doing it yet.
Having watched a few videos on YouTube, I think the main thing is to take your time and although some have done it with the wheel in situ it's probably better to remove the wheel. When I get around to it, possibly in September now, I'll be putting it up on my YouTube channel.

I had mine recovered aswell... i used detailing/cleaning products on the wheel and rubbed it to much or something so the finish started fading.
Took me a while to find a place to retrim it. First problem was steering wheel heating, which i wanted to remain functional. Many places refused to quarantee that. Also some retrim places did not have the proper Nappa leather to do the job. Finally found a place that had retrimmed many wheels with heating and had the proper material. As one has to be more careful when removing old leather to not break the heating wire that job takes longer and cost a bit extra.
