The last time I checked, the Sox are still down by 9 games.

True. But I was expecting them to fold like cheap paper in this series.

The Sox still have great players. The race is not over yet. The Yankees have to shore up their starting pitching or they won't go far in the playoffs.

What a week to forget for the Yankees.

Marcus Spoonman to the Mets which means Thor is leaving?

This is the Sox team I expected to see this whole series. At least they eked out 3 of the 4 games.

Yes. They had to have these games. If it went 3 of 4 the other way, the race would have probably been over. I'm happy it's still at 9 and not 7! Yanks still need a starting pitcher or 2.

I would think 2, particularly if German's innings need to be limited as the season wears on. Last night was a snapshot of the season - German's dominance vs. Sale's lack thereof was difference in game and most of the difference in the standings.

Sox playing for wild card at this point, but it won't matter unless Sale gets his shit together and returns to dominant form. Bullpen concerns too, but without Sale turning it around, the bullpen won't matter.

Agreed. I can't believe the drop off for Sale this season. He was unhittable last season.

Seriously. I'm glad the Sox threw in the towel. No sense wasting good prospects this season.

Exactly, particularly given how little they have available to waste. I am particularly glad they didn’t pursue Diaz given the rumored price tag. He is clearly not the same closer he was last year.

Looks like Yanks were disciplined as well, which was a little surprising. They have more depth to deal, need some rotation help and have a much better shot this year than the Sox. So I was expecting to see them splurge.

Yankees have done well against Cole and Greinke but Houston still scares me. WS winner this year will be either the Yankees or Houston. Braves, Rays, Twinkies, Cubs, Brewers, BoSox, Cards aren’t as dominate as the Yanks/Stros. Dodgers? Please. They’ll fold again in the WS.

I'd say that's it for the Sox. Back to back sweeps and 5 losses in a row to the Yanks. No October baseball for RSN.

How sweep it is!

Concerned about injuries again. We can't lose Gleyber for any length of time. The guy is a stud.

Still won't rule out the Sox for the WC. They could go on a run if they getting their starting pitching sorted out. Price should never pitch at the Stadium. We own him there!

If it’s one thing I learned over the years is never assume the Sox are dead. All we need to do is look back when in the ‘04 ALCS when NY was up 3-0 and we know what happened.
Injuries are incredible this year, how they’re doing as well as they is unbelievable. Judge finally got a long ball yesterday. He’s due to get hot, we need need him hit homers not singles.
I was to see Price as much as possible in the Bronx!

In 1978 the Yankees were 14 games out in August and managed to win the division. Also the 2004 ALCS haunts me lol.

Seems that every day is Gleyber Day.

Speaking of which he’s back in tonight’s lineup at DH.

Yankees should bring up Frazier since Hicks has been injured all season.

Doesn’t Frazier and Dodgers May look alike?
