Exclamation ***BREAKING*** Zeke Elliot: Suspended For SIX GAMES!!!

As a diehard Cowboys fan... I am quite disappointed!

As a husband and dad and someone who loves and admires women, if you put your hands on a woman, you deserve to be punished!

How he responds moving forward will demonstrate his character or lack thereof....

Apparently... After 13 months of investigation, the NFL claims to have "compelling evidence" against Elliot concerning his domestic violence case.

I don't think the NFL needs a finding of guilt to deal with idiot players who beat their wives......

Considering Brady essentially shit on the integrity of the entire game of football and the NFL and got 4 games..., yeah harsh is a understatement.

I'd rather see them force his ass to lo pay/dedicate his salary to help Womens Abuse Organizations and Charities and public service probation.
This is punishment for the entire team.

Pump your brakes bro. He wasn't married and we don't know if he "beat" anyone.
I know Cowboys haters are coming out in full force, but they're is more to this than we are hearing.

I'm not sure if anyone knows what really happened, big blow for Zeke regardless. Hopefully after an appeal maybe they will cut that in half.

NFL suspended Brady for 4 games based on he said she said (and courts even cleared Brady of any wrongdoing) about the psi of a damn football. With the stance that the NFL has taken against domestic violence you should not be surprised with the outcome of this

In terms of process, this is what the NFL should have been doing all along. An employer is allowed (and required) to conduct investigations into the misconduct of employees. No sane employer is going to wait for the outcome of a potential criminal case before deciding on employment consequences. Yet, this is what the NFL has traditionally done.

That said, it shouldn't take 13 months to do an investigation. Should the NFLPA grieve the suspension, the test is not reasonable doubt and does not require the same sort of evidentiary rigour that a criminal case would.

As for penalty, six games seems reactionary on the surface (reaction to Ray Rice, Josh Brown, etc) ... but if the NFL considered all mitigating and aggravating factors in coming to that decision (remorse, contrition, accountability, repetitive versus aberrant act, seriousness of misconduct, provocation, player's disciplinary history, tenure in the league) than it is probably defensible.

Anyone who is interested in how the NFL has historically worked overtime to hide player misconduct should read Pros and Cons: The Criminals Who Play in the NFL by Benedict and Yaeger. 20 years old but still highly relevant.

You have no idea whether this is he said or she said or what evidence the NFL has obtained. Secondly, even if it is he said, she said, the NFL is entitled to make reasonable credibility assessments and determine whether it is more likely than not that Elliott was abusive.

Where is the official statement on why Rice got 2 games with actual footage, why Little Ben got 2 for rape, and why Josh Brown admitted to beating his wife for years and got 1 game. Where is your "tough" stance on those cases, Goodell, is unbelievable, and incompetent!

If you're making a rhetorical comment about the justice system, no argument. If you're suggesting that it's an inappropriate test in an administrative environment like employment/labour law ... plenty of argument.

Not really, 6 games is the standard punishment that was stated 3 years ago.

In August 2014, in Goodell's letter to owners (www.nfl.com/static/content/public/photo/2014/08/28/0ap3000000384873.pdf):

"Effective immediately, violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense, with consideration given to mitigating factors, as well as a longer suspension when circumstances warrant."

As an Eagles fan, this is excellent news. The girls could legitimately start 1 and 5 without their bell cow and be out of the NFC East contention by late november.

I also think there's compelling evidence that he did it and deserves the suspension. Hopefully he learns from it.
