New to the Z4
Hello, been lusting over the Z4 lately. Used to own an E90 335.
I have a few questions if you could help please. 1) Can you get this car with the single turbo inline 6 motor N55? 2) Does the 35is have the fuel pump issues like the other N54's? 3) Can you get OEM BMW exhaust system for this car? 4) Can you do the OEM BMW Power kit for this car? 5) Is there a facelift coming? 6) Can you fit 2 full sized bags in the trunk for a weekend trip? Thanks! |

3. The 35is come with a performance exhaust. 4. No BMW power kit, but there are plenty of tuning options such as MHD, Cobb, and JB4. For engine performance mods you try the N54 mod section on e90post. There is a wealth of information there for the engine. For Z4 specific upgrades there an in-depth threads here detailing suspension and brakes.

I would love to have an E89 in Arizona. Top down driving is comfortable in both warm and cool weather, and the car was made for Arizona type highways.
We have taken numerous trips. We use two pieces of luggage that fit nicely side by side. There is still room for a couple soft gym bags and if necessary the nooks and crannies can be filled but then the top can't be dropped until you check in and unload. We pack the same way we did with a standard 4 door, (but without the beach chairs). I like the twin Turbos and consider the single Turbo a cost and weight saving. The response is very satisfying. Don't know if you are thinking new or used but The fuel pump issue should have been taken care of either way. You can get service history from the dealer with the key scan. Not sure about the IS even having an issue. The IS exhaust is different and louder than the 35i. Most of the additional HP is from programming. In a sense it has a power kit with a warranty. If you must have even more consider DINAN which is BMW authorized. Also for price reasons consider the 35i and add Dinan to it for about $1000. I believe the is comes with a stiffer suspension and also 19" tires, so a road test is advisable. Haven't heard anyhing about a facelift but know that '16 or '17 will be the end of the model run. |

There are very few, if any, BMW performance parts made for the 35i.
Look on the BMWUSA website for this. All 35i after 2012 have the DCT. The only current Z4 that comes with a manual is the 28i. The 35is only ever came with the DCT.

better buy now.. the weather is warming up.
I need to test drive the DCT... there must be something amazing about it. I just knew I couldn't afford one with a DCT |

35is' performance exhaust makes nice exhaust crackle sound... and slightly bigger brakes.

He means the oem 35is exhaust. Its different than the 35i and meant to more performance orientated.

So, just out of curiosity, I see you have a zillion performance mods to your 35is and you live in NYC. Where/when do you get a chance to use all that speed equipment?!

I even work in the city so I'm on public transit everyday. But I tell ya when ever I'm behind the wheel I love it. There are a few open roads around here where I get to open her up, and a few winding roads here and there on the North shore. Actually we also do Bear Mountain runs, with a Peekskill run coming up in April. That area has awesome roads, lots of elevation changes and corners.

Very easily actually. Simply go online and google or ebay H8 LED BMW bulbs. They range from about $40 for a pair for a cheap option from China or elsewhere, or you can go higher end ---LUX or MTEC make them for around $250 to $300 a pair. The cheaper ones are hard to see during the day but look nice at night. The LUX and MTEC bulbs boast better visibility
