Thanks for the info. So does that mean that all of those listed will work? Im looking for the part numbers for the kit so I can see which one is the best deal.

Well, I gather e89 should be equaled to e9x rather than f3x....
Speaking bout e9x brakes, these differ quite a lot from f3x: 335i(x) front 348mm, single piston rear 336mm, single piston 330i(x) front 330mm, single piston rear 336, single piston I know, as I did the front swap (330->348)

Any question someone has about modding their car someone can say use the search function. Our cars are not a new model therefore everything has already been done by someone somewhere, and there is a thread about it. But as usual it does not always answer the exact question someone has and that is why there are many threads about the same subject. If you don't have a helpful answer why not just move on instead of posting in someone's thread who is looking for a real answer. |

From what I have read it seems that both the E9x and the F3x can work. There is a few people that are running 6 piston performance and some running the 4 piston sport's. What I am trying to figure out is which is the better option and also a link to the part number for either kit. Also what are the exact years that are compatible. There is a ton of different part numbers for different years that all look to be the same part. I want to make sure I pick the right one so I don't run into problems when installing them. I found a link to a kit for the 6 piston one in another thread. The price is reasonable at $1300. I am looking to buy used to save a little money that's why I am trying to figure out what are the different part numbers that work and also the different parts of the kit. There is many listed for sale that look the same but all from different years so I want to make sure I pick the right one. If there is a link to a list that has the part numbers for each kit and also all the compatible years that would be perfect. This way I can look threw all the for sale threads and pick the right ones for my car. |

I´d been thru that.... having been immersed in web forum for quite a time, I came to following:
e89´s share the same master brake cylinder (34336786755) with e9x cars. I presume that master cylinder has been designed/optimised for single piston calipers (both front and rear), so althoung implementing some alternate BBK (4 or 6 pistons) might be (mechanically) PnP and would bring you some extra large rotors wit it, to get the best of of it you should play with its controlling SW.... what does not attract me a bit... that is why I simply swapped OEM 330ix front brakes (rotors 330x24mm) to OEM 335ix ones (348x30mm) + calipers, caliper carriers, pads, clips, sensor, obviously. No need to playing with the software, though. And it brakes like hell now.... (I am referring to the other car of mine - 3er- see my signature) But... speaking of Z4, I will not go for these larger rotors (35is), because that would mean adding some 5 kgs per wheel ...

I guess next step would be find someone who has done the BBK and see what else they did and how it is holding up. |

Is there any carbon-ceramics BBK kit suitable for e89? (....and, please, forget the $$$ issues for awhile, will you?)

But that does raise the question if the factory M3/M4 carbon ceramics could be modified to fit on a Z4. That is out of my area of expertise but a good question for some of the BMW tecs on here.. |
